Still kinda racist, but it's better with RGL restricting slurs and the like. You still have the toxic circlejerks (most of which are banned from playing in RGL) harassing you for being gay/trans or whatever, but at least now there's some kind of consequence.

last time i recall actual vocal racist people playing was about 5 years ago, and it was overwatch that caused them to move on, definitely not rgl Lmfaoo. U ppl cant separate actual racists vs racist banter because the former hasnt existed in ages, for the most part anyways. as funny as i find safrix getting banned for saying "Huff And Puff And Blow That Nibber Down" its not doing favors for anyone.

like no one is making me play w/ folks that say racist stuff/ gay slurs/ transphobic shit/ etc. there are great ppl @ every level. there are also terrible ppl @ p much every level

this would be true for a game that's bigger like a csgo or rocket league or someshit like that, i've seen many times an admin kick/ban someone from a pug group but they couldn't get 12 ppl to start pugs bc of it.
if u want to play 6s outside of matches/scrims where you don't have to interact with the people outside ur team, ur gonna have to deal with a stinker or 2

As far as racism goes, not once have I experienced any sort of derogatory discrimination thrown at me, atleast in the comp community. (Shoutouts to ALL the french people I have ever met, all of which have been the kindest to me wherever I interact with them!)

Now, even though it's not explicitly stated in the question, concerning transphobia - I have come across individuals who have been actively transphobic towards friends and non-friends of mine, so there is still an issue there.

People need to control what they say, understand others more and just make sure they give others a fun time to enjoy playing video games - one day...

as someone who grew up in the poorest conditions thinkable (for a first world country) and grew up in a neighbourhood with extreme right friends and immigrant children, this statement seems so alien to me. how about you adopt some tolerance for the intolerant? As in being able to frankly tell them why they are wrong without dehumanizing them. Or is that too hard for the average american... even in online community sometimes you dont get to choose, for example when you trial for a cool team and then it turns out some of them spout wrongthink. You gonna leave, or make them leave? heck no.

well if you are surrounded by racists and homophobes, its wrongthink to be a non-racist gay dude.. wrongthink is defined by the societal group you surround yourself with and can't be pinned down to one specific form of discrimination... or when you have an internal ethical code and other people misalign with them, that's wrongthink on their part.

If you look for racism everywhere, you're going to find it everywhere. Just play the game.

i very much agree with sac's sentiment. i grew up in a multi-national immigrant community where "racism" was commonplace and we got along and intermingled just fine. it was more used to banter and make jokes rather than discriminate and undermine. sure, sometimes someone would take it too far but others were quick to correct them because we knew what line should not be crossed. it seems this nuance is entirely lost in more homogeneous communities and, especially, on the internet.

saddest thing about this game is seeing toxic people actively try to ruin things like inhouse pug groups whether its through racism, homophobia, etc.
