Faceit is coming back before RGL pugs comes out lmao
^ finally b4nny dethroned
for real, i'll play here instead of casual cya in competitive 12v12 dustbowl
is this going to be the same system that their 6v6 was, where if you left the other team couldn't get a sub? if thats the case this could be really awful the moment someone disconnects. hoping that it'll be like casual in the sense you can hop in and out of games quickly

we got assigned a bot when someone on our team left
I started playing again a week ago after almost a decade away. I appreciate this conceptually, and all the work being put into it, but I'm not sure whether it will scratch the itch (for me, anyway). I never really played for the cosmetic rewards, so they don't really add anything for me here. I think I just miss things like joining the same people in 24/7 pl_badwater purgatory and grinding aim skill and gamesense so I could be mediocre in 6s later on my team comprised of similarly aged friends I spent all day every day playing with. I don't know that trying to force 12v12 the entire time by utilizing bots for leavers and prioritizing an item progression system is it. Having to use an external website or client is also going to be a deterrent for new people, so I wonder if this will end up splitting an already small community further. Who knows. I hope it works out for others, though.
I mean if the majority of the tf2 playerbase actually played comp they probably would have...
Too bad the game has shit default settings and is prodominantly casual.
had a bunch of fun playing for a few hours tonight. people were comming things in a way i haven't really heard since 2013ish, and I had a really great time
remove ctf maps, add some pub staples (gorge/5gorge?, lakeside?, frontier?, goldrush?) and it will be 10/10.

pretty much this is my only gripe with the current system. I don't even know why hightower is a possible map you can play, that actually sounds awful.
I'm really glad they use stopwatch config for payload as well.
my 13 pub winstreak was ruined by alley and zilly and now im pissed off
edit: apparently jay was in there too and branslam -__-

this seems to be the maps available, mixed feelings on these but hopefully there are more added in the full release
Post from Mikey on the discord. Testing these maps before adding them.

guess they can't use product because random pub players would have to dl it?
I haven't had this much fun pubbing in years. Some of the maps are really bad but the tryhardiness and pubbers figuring out calling is very fun in small doses

I heard a man call "dispenser down" without a hint of irony. It was glorious
after 36 matches I was finally asked to install the anti-cheat and now I am in OSX Jail.
i just played a one hour single round of sunshine
it was physically gruelling and was a true battle of attrition
they finally won and we immediately forfeit the next round
it was so exhausting im actually going to bed
DO NOT PLAY 5CP ITS AWFUL

it's so sad that this is considered too high a bar nowadays, there are so many amazing non-stock casual maps for this game and getting to play on those is a huge part of the appeal of playing on third party servers. casual TF2 seriously lost a lot of soul in the transition from every player using the server browser to most using valve server-only quickplay.
it'd be nice if faceit would rotate a few custom maps through their map pool every once in a while. I don't even think having to download a map would be the bottleneck preventing people from playing in this after they already went to the trouble of signing up for faceit accounts, but I can imagine it has more to do with the burden of probably thousands of people downloading those maps from the faceit servers, which is reasonable. Things were different when community servers were the only option and a single host wasn't providing those custom map downloads for the entire playerbase.

i love the drudge of 5cp community servers but yeah, it's not right for faceit imo. the only decent 5cp pub map imo is 5gorge but even that can be really terrible
KevinIsPwnthe only decent 5cp pub map imo is 5gorge but even that can be really terrible
the last point will 100% be infested by at least 5 engineers

not too hard to push though, most sentry spots on 5gorge last are decently spammable or just generally bad
they really need to disable 6 man stacking in this shit lol so unfun

after playing for a bit last night, this concern isn't actually a big deal. the bots in pubs are what i'm guessing is the "expert" level difficulty so they're not terrible to play with or against (and they play medic if ur team doesnt have one!)

my bots were kinda carrying in some moments on sunday. they would just do such unexpected shit that it would work. pubber-movement-type vibes

i'm assuming balance is coming for those folks, which will be nice. i really enjoyed adding up with a few friends and just shooting the shit while playing in a really solid pub, i'd probably not play if ""stacks"" were no longer a thing.
