lawena works just fine for me but source demo render seems to be getting at least some traction. i have no clue how to use it tho.
tbh i personally just pop comanglia's cinema config with a couple of edits into my tf folder when i want to make a video and then use shadowplay to record and that shit is so much easier than waiting for lawena to get through the clip frame by frame (even with avi recorder running to automatically make them .avis)

lawena still works fine, but at least in my case i dont actually record with it anymore
lawena is sick for when you have a garbo pc that cant run tf2 decently on a nice looking config, but nowadays most computers are good enough to where this isnt as much of a concern as it was in 2014
if you want things to look nice opening the game with lawena and then recording with shadowplay/obs more than gets the job done
ive never used avi recorder myself but if you wanna go down the lawena route of a billion .tga files it seems to me like the best option

get fucking sniped wandum literally never post again
I currently use lawena + avi recorder
it's faster then just using lawena, no need for virtualdub and it takes less space with a codec.
if you still don't want to use a tool for specifically recording in source games I'd recommend OBS instead of shadowplay, the replay buffer feature allows you to record with high framerates if you have a decent graphics card and generally has more customization.

y r u mean?

lawena and avirecorder seems to be the easist way to record high quality demos
took literally like 30 seconds of reading to learn how to use SDR when reer told me about it and took me an hour, maybe an hour n a half to record ~35 clips with minimal effort
also when u mess with rendering settings in the settings file, quality difference between sdr and lawena is negligible
