NintailsCreate a weekend charity cup to raise funds for ukraine?
i'm all for charity events but i dont think having a charity cup & virtually shooting rockets/guns at each other is in particularly good taste given the current circumstances
just donate some money at the links posted throughout the thread & encourage your buddies to do the same
wishing you the best @ihor.

i don't think that is whats going on scrambled. we are just posting and showing solidarity for the people who live there, some of which also play this game and are reading this. i don't think anyone here is trying to like unnecessarily play the victim or whatever.
this wasn't what i was talking about initially at all, btw if people thought this. i just don't think anyone should have to read/be educated what lupus has to say about anything important/have their views influenced by this
anyway, despite the fact i have the same views i do agree with brock/scream
didn't really wanna post this to detract further from the main topic but it was more the case this guy is trying to align his shit with what im saying

There's a difference between football and esports, some of the Russian football clubs are likely funded by Russian diplomats, a TF2 mix isn't.

"I think I don't need to explain that situation in Eastern Europe is currently very tense and we are all worried about the events in Ukraine and we hope all our players, their families and everyone else are safe and sound. We can only hope this conflict gets resolved soon and with as little impact to people possible.
In light of recent events the question has been raised whether we are going to disallow players from Russia and Belarus from participating in our competitions. Our current decision is that there will be no ban on players from the aforementioned countries. This decision is mainly motivated by the fact that ETF2L has been and always will be a place away from politics where players can just come and play TF2. We don't believe that a player should be banned from playing just because he was born in a certain country. Now let it be very clear that any hate bearing/offensive/provoking discussions or conversation (from both sides) will be strictly prohibited and punished as necessary, the whole staff will be extra vigilant in this matter. Understandably everyone has an opinion about the current situation and while we're all quite nervous about the situation it is important we remain respectful towards one another."

So much for sport uniting people.. Let's make all Russians suffer the consequences of their imperialist incompetent leader, that will for sure get them on our side! Idiots.

You're right. It's sad- these conscripts are going to Ukraine without even being able to call their loved ones, without even knowing sometimes. They're one day training for this potential fight, but then are just told to fuck off into Ukraine without any support, and without letting their loved ones know about it. It's sad. But it's a necessary measure to prevent, what you said, Putin getting funding for doing more harm. Unfortunately for the Russians, this is what happens when your top 1% control the 99%.
Note, this doesn't mean I side with the Russians. I side with those who are surrendering and resisting fighting, and I hope every Russian who is concious of their decisions to go to Brussles and be tried for their war crimes (there's a lot right now).
FYI, if you didn't know, Ukraine people created a website to post killed or missing Russians to give a chance to their loved ones to "claim" (can't believe I said this) their loved ones. Too bad the Russians blocked this site. What a fucking disgrace to humanity. On a further note, the protests and arrests following criticism of the Kremlin. It's a horror show what's going on.
Slava. May God bless the Ukrainian People.

A lot of people hate Putin and a lot of people don't. You'd be surprised the amount of support Putin has in Russia. Step outside your bubble man. The guy is dangerous but a lot of people support him. And the sports ban is for sure going to be used massively as propaganda in Russia for little to no benefit for the actual cause is all I'm saying...

me inviting sports teams and organizations from the federal republic of yugoslavia between 1992 and 1996 to compete in my country which is a part of an alliance that is diametrically opposed to the bosnian war because not doing so might lead to an incredibly minor propaganda victory in a country that is currently perpetrating a conflict whose only justification is an imperialist landgrab

Most Russians actually seem to support Putin... Take from it what you will, but most polling puts Putin's approval above 60%.
