The lag compensation fixes crowded melee fights, boston basher hits on team mates, and whip. Basically anything you saw on your screen in terms of teammates blocking your melee hit, was incorrect vs. the server.

It still has a smaller splash damage radius and less fuse time for the rollers, it's not just the difference in pipe physics.
