NOOBPANZER II: the boys are back to wreak havoc on Premiership (well, at least Joe is back). NOOBPANZER, led by Joe, played in Season 42 and even reached the playoffs stage, before losing the Quarter Finals match to The League Of Shadows. A spiritual successor to the NOOBPANZER legacy, NOOBPANZER II are once again being led by Joe into Premiership.
As many other Premiership players have noted in their interviews with TEAMFORTRESS.TV this season, Premiership is looking especially competitive this time around: with big names like tf2easy, Witness Gaming, and Nati Noot all competing. But NOOBPANZER II are nothing to scoff at, having already won their Week 1 game against CSG, who are a solid contender for one of the playoffs spots this season.
Check out the Week 1 match between NOOBPANZER II and CSG on the TEAMFORTRESS.TV YouTube channel.
Firstly, let's talk about their Scouts. An all-German line-up here to terrorise the rest of the division, voxtec and schocky are back to being Scout buddies. schocky is a name that often gets brought up in a discussion of GOAT Scout players; NA has names like Yz50 and clockwork and Europe has schocky. He was a part of the historic Epsilon eSports line-up, with whom schocky amassed six Premiership championships and a first-place finish at Insomnia 49. Sideshow gave this TF2 roster the title of the “most dominant team ever”. Whether you agree with this or not, schocky is a name that is engraved irrevocably into the history of this game.
voxtec and schocky played together on the wer das liest ist doof roster many times. Although voxtec and schocky could never achieve great success with the all-German team, voxtec achieved a Premiership Grand Final appearance with the FAINT Gaming team. With such a stacked Premiership division currently, it will be tough to say voxtec will be able to finally manage an ETF2L Premiership championship, but it doesn't get much better than this Scout duo.
As if these Scouts weren't enough, NOOBPANZER II has three ETF2L Premiership first-place finishes between their two Soldiers. adysky is a relatively old-school name at this point in TF2, having played on an underground team called Se7en, or something. Playing with Se7en as Roamer, adysky was an ETF2L champion twice and even won Copenhagen Games 2018 with them. Not wanting to be boxed into one role, adysky tried his hand at Demoman again and ultimately came 2nd at the following year's Copenhagen Games, losing out only to Se7en in the Grand Finals. On Pocket Soldier for NOOBPANZER II is puck (formerly known as Hugo). puck had quite a linear rise through the divisions, making his debut in Season 36, finishing third in Season 37 alongside voxtec with FAINT, finishing second in Season 38, and finally winning Premiership in Season 40 with Witness Gaming.EU. With players who have already proven they can be the best at their role in Europe, NOOBPANZER II certainly makes an argument that they are a team to watch out for.
Finally, rounding out the roster are Joe on Demo and piggles on Medic. Joe is another player on the team with a Premiership Grand Final under his belt. He played with Ora Elektro in Season 40, making it all the way to the Grand Finals, where he would battle it out against puck and Witness Gaming.EU, but ultimately lose out. Piggles is the player with the smallest claim to fame on the roster, but it's an incredibly stacked roster and piggles is a well-experienced Premiership veteran himself. Most recently he finished third at the RCADIA Fortress LAN event alongside puck with the team BIG BLOKE LAN, beating many of his now current teammates.
We reached out to voxtec to answer some questions about the upcoming season and the strong-appearing roster that is NOOBPANZER II:
EDITOR'S NOTE: The interview questions have not been answered as of yet. The article will be updated once the answers are given.
TEAMFORTRESS.TV: Are you excited to be back on a team with schocky as Scout buddies? Where do you think you two rank in terms of raw ability compared to other scouts in Premiership this season?
TEAMFORTRESS.TV: Do you think you guys have a good chance at winning this season and you can finally tick ETF2L champion off your bucket list? If not, where do you think you will end up in the table come the end of the season?
TEAMFORTRESS.TV: With such an experienced and accoladed roster on your hands, you guys must all already know what needs doing and what role each player should be filling out. Do you find scrims are mainly used to build team chemistry and a trust in each other, rather than ironing out mistakes and problems?
With Week 1 behind them, NOOBPANZER II put on a solid show against CSG, taking home a tasty 6 points. They were extremely dominant against CSG on Granary, quickly picking up four rounds. Even though CSG attempted to push back and win some rounds, NOOBPANZER II showed their strength both attacking and defending, ultimately winning the map 4-0. Gullywash was a different story. Quickly dropping 3 points to CSG, NOOBPANZER II had to organise the ultimate comeback to finally win the map 5-4. Although things looked very shaky at times, and they arguably got very lucky with some cheeky back caps and point plays, at the end of the day winning the map is all that matters. Looking strong and looking onwards, NOOBPANZER II are:
- Pocket Scout: voxtec
- Flank Scout: schocky
- Roamer: adysky
- Pocket: puck
- Demoman: Joe
- Medic: piggles
