Hello and Good morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening & Good Night

Communication is one of the most vital skills you can have in our competitive environment along with many other sports within the field. Without communication, you’re losing the means of being able to form connections among colleagues, friends, and family. Within our competitive bubble, you wouldn't have the ability to make a decisive call that breaks a long stalemate, setting a collapse after an über-trade, sending your flank behind to a pinch and the list keeps going.

One thing that RGL could improve on with the player base as a whole is communication. In the past, RGL hasn't elaborated on the tools we use for scheduling, results from surveys, and how they’ll be used effectively for that upcoming season, why restrictions seem to change every other season, how we incorporate/utilize the feedback players give us from meetings and so much more that needs to be touched upon.

Being one of the head-admin of sixes, I want to bridge a path towards better communication between RGL and the general player base. When I was a player before, I'd get frustrated myself because of the lack of communication RGL had whenever things were still being figured out or developed behind the scenes. I do not want the same trend to continue as the year progresses. We may be volunteers, but being a volunteer shouldn't equate to bad leadership or poor communication skills in any matter.

A simple Q&A thread isn't going to address all the problems and concerns people currently have with RGL, nor will it feel genuine to you all who are playing with the league. Plus an article full of FAQs only cover little information.

That being said Arcadia, Camp3r, and Myself (if more people slide through ill add them/update the names here) would like to go in-depth about anything that has to deal with sixes, the tools we use, the decisions that’re brought up go is and how they’re dealt with, how the scheduler works and what precisely is it, what specifically do division admins do, what does a head admin do, how the players can get their voice out there and more.

For this relationship to work between staff and the player base, communication is needed to ensure a path where if a problem or concern does (and it will) present itself it can be talked about constructively, but on a level where it's personal rather than being treated like an individual who's just speaking into the void.

This will be hosted on the RGL’s twitch channel on the 24th of June, time is currently TBD. I'll update it as we talked about it throughout this week.

If you have any questions you want to be answered you can for sure drop them in this thread, since I'll be collecting the questions through TFTV, RGL Fourms, dms’s and more. Only things that won’t be answered are anything to deal with the report committee cases and anti-cheat cases as they are more sensitive to the matter.

Thank you for reading this and I appreciate you all.

I GET TO HEAR CAMP3R'S VOICE FOR THE FIRST TIME????? the man finally comes out of his tent

as a question or a request to camp3r specifically: i think it is important to signify the details behind the planning, justification, and whatnot behind the NR6s cup that received a lot of controversy on the RGL forums. I know you had explained it to me but it would be very important to reiterate it on this stream since now we'll have a slightly more attentive audience this time

> why restrictions seem to change every other season

This is the big one to me that I think most people complain about. When forming teams, sometimes it can be "Well we're hoping X player doesn't get restricted", but it's just unclear if they will get restricted off a class. So my question would be how can players get a clearer idea of what someones restrictions will be before rosters are finalized?

rgl docsRestrictions are context-dependent and may change across teams. For example, a player on one team may not have the same set of restrictions if they switch to another team in the same division. The addition of a player to a roster may also add restrictions to other players on that team.

I recognize that this is part of it, but you can see how this would make it difficult to plan rosters and form teams.

Aside from that, I think the biggest thing is just regular communication. Status updates on different projects, updates when different decisions are made, etc

Thank you for hosting this talk. I have a few questions listed below

How are decisions on RGL Plugins made?

Recently, there were discussions on TFTV about various 6s plugins (Projective Teammate Phase , Soldier self-damage) How are decisions made regarding whether or not to run plugins? Does RGL look at other competitive leagues and feedback from players when making these decisions?

I think RGL could benefit from a test server with plugins enabled and having players within the league test out plugins and give feedback.

How are decisions on what maps to add in/remove made?

RGL recently hosted an experimental map cup. This cup was an enjoyable experience and has led to the inclusion of Sultry in the map pool. Before the start of this season, RGL did a poll for voting a map into the Advanced pool. Has RGL considered expanding the map pool to allow more maps instead of voting in/out a map each season at higher divisions? Additionally, how are decisions made regarding whether or not to add a new map into the pool like Sultry?

How are decisions on weapons bans/unbans made?

RGL has a weapon ban survey at the end of each season, however, the results of previous season were not publicly released. How are weapon bans/unbans decided?

For example, the buffalo steak sandvich was recently unbanned, but no one was really sure why it was unbanned. The blog post stated “In the post s10 survey, 41% of polled players voted to unban the Buffalo Steak Sandvich, 31% voted to keep it banned, and the remaining 28% were neutral. In the spirit of change, we’re unbanning the Buffalo Steak Sandvich this season. We will be monitoring games to see how this item impacts game flow, if it does at all.”

41% is not even a majority of the poll, however 28% of players were neutral on the change. Are there certain percentages the league looks at before considering whether to ban/unban a weapon? Does RGL look at how “broken” a weapon is before unbanning (Steak sandvich vs mad milk/wrangler)?

Is there a specific reason why the Main division does not follow the pick/ban format?

As someone who has recently played 3 seasons of main, I feel that Main players are at a high enough skill level to pick/ban maps. I understand the need in lower division for exposure to the entire map pool, but I believe Main is a division where players are capable of picking and banning maps. Personally, I did not enjoy playing a weekly map system because every scrim for an entire week was the same exact map. Once playoffs started and I was playing up to 4 different maps a night, it made me realize how much I dreaded scrimming the same map for a week straight.
