mustardoverlorddonovinposting since i haven’t seen anyone talk about it:
people weren’t content with showing task manager, monitor cam, handcam, keyboard cam, etc etc.
and it was posted his tf2 files themselves could be injected
he streamed himself uninstalling and reinstalling tf2 and playing his match on no config nothing and put out the same stats as he usually does in a match
just collecting people’s thoughts cause i’m not sure what more he could do besides play at lan to prove himself or what it would take for people to believe him (i’m just interested in peoples thoughts i have no affiliation with elijah)
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1869572988
https://logs.tf/3453935

If this were a real game and not tf2, playing in-person would not be some kind of last resort, it would literally be the first thing elijah did. When pro players in csgo thought ropz (before he went pro) was cheating in faceit, he literally went down to the faceit studio and played live, which pretty much dispelled everything. Have elijah go to dippidy's house and play on his setup! Or, less facetiously, have him play on someone else's setup on LAN. It's onerous, but he'd do it if he really cared about proving his innocence.

Elijah has full intentions to play at the next lan, using all rented or borrowed peripherals, borrowed cfg or no cfg, and a rental PC in an attempt to show that he can perform just as well in that environment as any

mustardoverlordOr, less facetiously, have him play on someone else's setup on LAN. It's onerous, but he'd do it if he really cared about proving his innocence.

It still wouldn't be sufficient evidence because it's to be expected that someone playing on a rental without their config, mouse, or keyboard is going to perform slightly worse than usual. If Elijah went to LAN and used entirely rental equipment and didn't perform as well, people would say it's proof that he's cheating because he's not able to put up the stats. If he plays on a rental but is allowed to use his mouse and keyboard, people would still say it's possible he cheated because we know from CS:GO players that you can put cheating software in your mouse and keyboard.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/z9x9gm/swedish_documentary_on_cheating_in_csgo_shows_the/

The only definite settlement we could hypothetically have is if someone came in and took Elijah's computer away for a surprise inspection, spent a few days inspecting every single file on the computer, and then declare it clean or not.

I guess, in theory, you could have Elijah prepare to go to a LAN, send the people who are running the LAN his TF2 config and hardware specs. They would go out and get an identical mouse and keyboard and input his exactly settings. Then hook all that up to a rental and see if he still performs. That's also a lot of shit to do for one person to prove he's not cheating. Even if we had 100% proof that Elijah is not cheating right now, people still are soured on the first cheating ban and wouldn't want him back in the community regardless. So all the discussions about what he COULD do to gain people's trust will always run into a dead end. The discussion about cheating bans and if they should be infinite or not can actually go somewhere, but now with the extra talking point of whether or not they should be enacted retroactively for some.

mustardoverlordAs an aside, I wanted to discuss the whole finite vs. permaban thing for cheaters. I actually tend to disagree with some of the hardliners here, and am ok with like a 2-year ban for first offense. Part of that may be believing in the capacity of people to change, especially if they're very young when they cheat; however, I am also sympathetic to the utilitarian idea that banning them benefits not just 1 person, but many.

The more convincing argument for limited bans, however, is that we're talking about subjective reviews done by humans, and not actual VAC/anti-cheat for the most part. Don't get me wrong, I think that the various anti-cheat teams do a great job in being certain before laying down the banhammer (and have definitely improved in the past decade or so; you almost never see scandals about unfair bans anymore). Still, as long as it's humans deciding these things, you will always be 99.9% sure, not 100%.

This will be the first & last time I address this issue on the forum:
What mustard is saying here is very similar to my belief. Along with the aforementioned: if we make a blanket permanent ban, it gives us no room to ever unban in any circumstance. We can't make rules that we are willing to break or make exceptions to.

I agree, it sucks to play against cheaters. & people make dumb mistakes, like cheating in a video game.

It would only take a majority (probably 2/3) of the community to be in favor of this, and it will be on the survey at the end of the season.

I have been personally working for months on systemic solutions to a number of these types of community issues-
I appreciate everyone's patience as my team gets closer to completing these.
Please do not forget that just 3 months ago, I was merely any other 6s player in the community, and that has not changed.

Also to the “he’s just built different or he’s just a god gamer” crowd. Most reaction times are around 250-300ms. The fastest reaction times ever recorded from literal cs professionals is ~120 ms. For him to be doing what he’s doing consistently he’d have to be literally four times faster than the entire cs go pro scene. Please someone make it make sense.

As fyg alluded to producing "similar" stats or doing "just as well" is really not the point. Many cheaters across different games and formats (fps, speedruns, etc.) are, like it or not, actually good at the game without the cheats. The cheats that elijah is being accused of are not enough to simply carry a very unskilled player (it's not like he's dropping 95% accuracy or whatever every game). If I had similar alleged cheats I'm fairly confident I would not do nearly as well since I'm only a main player. It would not surprise me at all if elijah is simply good enough without cheats to perform at an adv-high adv level, and thus him doing well in these scenarios is not really evidence to suggest that he did not cheat within the demos outlined.

At least for me what he would have to do is either replicate the clips that dippidy outlined on a setup that is certifiably cheat free (no idea how this works or if this even exists) or show that other high level scouts have similar clips and that he is not an oddity in this regard.

Also like Elena mentioned "similar stats" is already completely subjective and will be interpreted whatever way people want to interpret them. Going like 36:12 as an example is pretty good stats in a vacuum but people will still point to how it wasn't as insane as some of the other statlines he's dropped this season (not to mention the insane variance inherent to your own stats because of how your team plays, etc.)

fyg Please someone make it make sense.

Literally the only non-cheating explanation I could come up with is a lucky mouse lift, in the case of the soldier instantly stopping, and lucky mouse movement that coincidentally made the crosshair track a target. I am not sure how many demos that Dippity combed through but it seems like it didn't take many demos to find all these suspicious situations, making luck incredibly unlikely.

Eli definitely has good dm already. When I play against his team on Demo it's not like he runs in straight lines and two shots me, his movement is top advanced/invite level. Cheats just reduces the mental load and makes the easy shots extremely consistent based on the clips. My teammates think that fighting Eli is significantly harder than fighting Jay, which combined with all the history of cheating and the fact that Jay is considered the best player in the game DM wise is very suspicious.

While there is probable cause for Elijah to cheat, I don't care for your explanations on whether he is or isn't with your AC degree from burger king university.

The number of people making shit up or moving the goalpost on what quantifies as cheats are so high that the people who actually have any experience on how cheats work or 1st hand experience with elijah are being surrounded with walls of text on how "Advanced AI Imperfect Aimbots Calibrated for Leading" or how "he cheated before (THANK YOU WE DIDNT KNOW BEFORE)

I cared somewhat, but reading this thread gives me a headache.

VirgilReeroAdditionally, he streams himself launching tf2 with his task manager open, and streams his executed programs at the end of each stream.
just wanna mention that (i think) good cheats aren't separate processes, they can be injected into the program you're using them on and they'd never show up on task manager nor would they naturally pop up when you launch the game. i believe after you configure them once, they'd just be set up and stored in game memory so from a spectator pov they'd never show up unless u accidentally toggled something. Not super sure but this is my understanding, all this to say that streaming your pov and shit doesn't do much

cheats have a feature called antiobs which hides the cheat functions from the recording software. im not sure if anti obs could hide the cheat menu

yes. some cheats also run on top of games, where the cheat info is passed into a program that overlays onto the game but is a separate source in OBS. virgil is correct that streaming the game doesnt do shit, but literally none of these "let me prove im not cheating" tactics really prove anything. there is a way around everything, ESPECIALLY over video. so, when all the other players are saying "that guy is fucking cheating" and we have frame data supporting that, it's time to ban him.
