SAJewersatiderei dl'ed steampipe and whenever i start it it crashes when i get to the loading screen :(
Try verifying cache. That fixed it for me.
Also FYI: According to someone on the Steam Forums, if you run a server running Source Mod Anti Cheat, you'll need to update it, or else it'll ban people running SteamPipe for cheating.
In particular smac_cvar plugin

Wait what.
According to this guy on the Steam Forums, Steampipe removes the sv_consistency check, which causes SMAC to ban you for an sv_consistency violation.

This is true. The source mod anti cheat ton pug.na banned some of us today before Fog was notified and fixed the issue.

Has anyone noticed that in tf2 properties - local files - the option to defrag game files is gone? You can only verify them now.
Is this something new or have they not optimized the system for defragging yet?

Just a heads up to anyone doing it. Make sure to refer back to the link in OP's post. Any assumptions you make about reinstalling your HUD/cfg will probably be wrong. I made that mistake and was running into errors out of my own ignorance. With that said everything works great now, and even with an SSD I've noticed ridiculous load times.

If I understand the new system correctly, you don't need to defrag files anymore, aside from the windows defrag.

15 second reload on an old, mostly full HDD. Though for some reason my frames are lower than before, probably will fix itself though.

Guys, I can't see water, it's just invisible. I was playing in a pub on freight and noticed this, I also couldn't see the ground around second. TF2 also just crashed on me without even saying "hl2.exe has stopped working" or anything, just closed out. Other than this everything has been going pretty smoothly.

Don't name any folder in the custom folder as something that might get confused with a real folder. By that I mean, I had the same issue because i had a tf/custom/maps/maps folder. I changed it to tf/custom/custom_maps/maps, and it worked fine. So change yours to tf/custom/hud/resource

In other news, does anyone know how to get custom hitsounds to work? I'm pretty sure I installed it correctly according to the readme and that etf2l thread.

They don't work on sv_pure 1/2 servers that are not converted to steampipe. They will work again once all the servers have switched over to steampipe

Seriously? Why would they change that?
Edit: Just saw the ninja post, apparently they'll work after all servers are on steampipe. So does that mean as long as I followed a similar procedure for installing my hitsound as i did with my hud (which works fine), then I won't have to change anything once everything is on steampipe? And my hitsound will just start working then?

That looks right, only thing I can think of is that your issue is linux specific.

aw :( I guess it's technically still in beta, so hopefully I only have to play with default hud until the actual release.

Having a problem with maps. I go to create a listen server and my downloaded maps aren't there. I backed them up but to my knowledge I shouldn't need to worry about that. I checked the downloads folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\download\maps) and my maps are there but they just aren't showing up ingame. What's up?
