Hi everyone. It's tool here. I have been playing with this idea for well over a year now and I think I am close to making this happen. For those that are familiar with the starcraft scene, Day9 is a popular caster that does SC2 dailies to teach new players (as well as vets) and spread the greatness that is e-sports and sc2 gaming.
A long time ago, monster was trying to start an equivalent TF2 daily cast, but he never was able to get it going. By the time I had offered to help monster, he already had to leave for school. Taking from his initiative, I wanted to see who would be interested in a TF2 daily (The Daily Dispenser) which would be organized much like Day9's dailies in which there will be about 4 casts a week at a scheduled time with a different focus for each day.
Topics I would like to include once a week:
Newbie Daily (targeted at pub comp, UGC, cevo, low open)
Match demo review
POV demo review with POV player in mumble
Pub tips/tricks
Friend Day where we get to interview someone on mumble
So... what does teamfortress tv think? If this sounds like a good idea, let me know. Or, if you even would like to help with production/planning, add me on steam. I have everything setup for streaming on my side, as well as a webcam, mumble, etc. In addition, I actually have the free time coming up for the next 12 months where I can actually plan something like this into my own schedule.
Other questions for the community...
what time would be good for this?
what days would work?
would this overlap too much with fully charged/extines show?
what other content would you like to see?
So, let me know here what everyone thinks. Or, if you'd like to talk to me directly, add me if you want to talk about this!

I like it. There should be something like Funday Monday, though, where you tell people to play with their worst class, or use a bad loadout like Phlog/Reserve shooter and send in a demo. I like Day9's dailies, but that's certainly one of the best parts and I'd personally love to see what players can do with different troll loadouts.

I think this would work really well, but I would recommend that you keep segments short no more than 5 or so minutes lest you get burned out and stop doing them (unless you want this to be your job). I really like the Newbie Daily, Pub tips, and Interview ideas, they are things that are generally lacking in the community. While more demo reviews is always a good thing, I don't see them fitting into this kind of show.
Keeping the videos short would allow you to cover one topic without losing viewer interest. For example, one cast could be about offclassing and when is a good time to do it. It would also serve to make a nice guide in video form about practically every topic in tf2 by the time you are done.

Also perhaps some content for the euros?

I am not convinced that there is enough content to fill a daily show but regular content at certain times of the day is what our scene needs imo. Before you overdo it, maybe try a "TF2 Weekly" format first? If you disagree, I'd be more than pleased to be proven wrong!
Fully Charged, which has a slightly different focus, has about ~300 conscutive viewers every time so I think it could be successful.

Thanks for the input already. My original goal was to have four 20-30 min shows each week, probably monday-thursday. I am sure that this will prove to be hard to reproduce this length, but honestly I can spend 20 minutes of my day talking about tf2 without much problem.
Funday Monday is eventually one of my goals. I love this daily theme and think it can transition well to tf2.
I did want to try to have at least one day of the week be targeted toward the more advanced, competitive side of tf2, similar to what Day9 does with his replay analyses. This way the program could be a great bridge between the casual pubber and the super serious invite player.
I'd be more than happy to include international coverage, but I am not sure how this would fit in a weekly format. I know day9 will have themes each week, and maybe Euro theme could be one?
I think fully charged is a great program and I do not expect this to take off to that level immediately, but rather, i'd like to gain an audience that I can grow through semi-daily programing.

Bear in mind that Day[9] has a staff behind him and I am sure they prepare each show for several hours each day. A production of that scale can not be done without proper preparation.

I like the idea t00l, if you need any help shoot me a pm. I'd like to see something like this get off the ground, sounds like it could be interesting.

I'm pretty sure anybody can spend 20 minutes of time talking about what they love, but the question is can you make all 20 of the minutes worthwhile, see Fully Charged, 45 minute long episode with about 10 minutes of actual content leads to a small viewer base and no real push to watch a missed episode.

As much as I like the idea, I feel you are severely underestimating the work you need to do to get this done. I would consider knocking down the number of days and making it a longer continuous section of time (2x20 minutes with a break instead of 20-30). I support the idea, but I don't know many TF2 players who could actually do this for over 2 weeks.

Yeah, it's going to be a lot of work. I am working from home for the next 2-3 months starting next week, so if you need any help, let me know.

This was something I was going to bring up as well. Another issue I wanted to bring up would be content. I don't want to be a downer but I want to think realistically. Personally, I like the idea because the dailies are great and Day9's personality is infectious despite several properties I don't particularly like about him. I see two other major problems with the idea as it is now:
1. Sure there will be an endless stream of demos asking to be reviewed, but how far can we go with "Newbie Daily" and "Pub tips/tricks" without repeating the same factoids like a broken record?
2. Do we actually have anyone interesting to interview? TF.tv is pretty much the center of NA TF2, and even by just lurking here you'll get to know enough about the inner machinations of the community, including upcoming events and how things like #tf2.pug.na work.
I guess you could rework problem 2 so it could be an "Around The World" segment where lower-level NA players/NA players who simply just don't know about the EU/AUS side of TF2 could get some exposure to it and vice versa. A good idea, but can it be realistically executed? Consider condensing the times it airs and rethinking the content.

It needs a clever name, Day[9] Daily just rolls off the tongue

Longevity is the biggest factor with shows like these. Even if you have a thousand ideas in your head about what you could do the show on, only concentrate on one of them per show. (If you really do have a thousand ideas write them down!) If you do that, then all you have to do is motivate yourself to start the show every day. I would recommend making the show as casual and laid back as possible. Make it a place to hang out and talk about TF2. That's a lot less stressful.
Also, don't be afraid to change the schedule as time goes by.

keeping a flexible schedule and focusing on each episode independently, like mario said, is the mindset you want for this sort of thing.

If you get a good enough base i think a noob QnA would be an interesting filler

i think the most impotent thing would be demo review. Have a invite or high im player and you (maybe more) not cast but analyze a invite/prem demo, once a week or so.

Everyone's already said the big flaws in the plan, but I'd still go for it. Maybe make it a 1-2 times a week thing that way the quality will be higher than spamming out 3-5 a week. I remember giving Day[9] help a long tie ago with filtering replays back when he still was doing BroodWar, you'll be surprised at the number of man hours it will take to do one show. Anyway, I say go for it as the worst thing that can happen is the community learning that Tf2 can or can't support this kind of show and we can figure something else out to do but the potential to learn something to make is already happening (casting games, Fully Charged, Pugs/newbie mixes) better if the show does fail is something to consider.

If you wanted to review demos but still keep the program short, you could always review individual midfights or last pushes, or trim down the demos to their more important/interesting/instructive parts.

It's a really good idea, only problem I can see at the beginning is your initial scope, although it's commendable that you want to produce daily content. At the start though I think it'd be good enough just to do maybe even two videos a week just to get yourself started and figure out how you'd like the format to be. Once the channel/program/etc. has been established you should work on implementing your bigger picture.
I think POV reviews done by high IM/Invite people and a bit of interview or discussion of the meta as well would work really great for some of the content, as there's no shortage of demos available. Maybe some league news from ESEA/UGC/CEVO similar to what eXtine was doing for eXtv for some content as well. You'd be able to cover the lower divisions without much crossover of the regular teamfortress.tv coverage which is primarily involved in Invite until playoffs.
I'd be more than willing to help you get this thing live and out there for the community. Feel free to add me.

Thanks again to everyone for the input. I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from this so I am going to try to make it happen. As a lot of people said, I think for the first few weeks I should just focus on maybe two shows per week with maybe 20-40 mins of actual content in each.
With this being the target, what days of the week would be best? Also, what time would be best? I would like to make sure I am not overlapping with other shows (Fully Charged) or getting in the way of normal scrim times. I was thinking of doing maybe Monday/Thursday at 8 EST? Any other suggestions?
Expect some kind of show in the next two weeks as I have started collecting content and talking to people on steam who want to help!

I would suggest 9 EST, instead, like FC. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about exact times, if you can export it to YouTube. There will always be an interested group that won't be able to watch it at the normal scheduled time.
