I stopped reading after you wrote "Sure... maybe we might have told them to fuck off"
Why are you being a crying baby when you tell someone to fuck off.

SideshowAaaand this seems like a pointless discussion because VTV got the proposal, whatcha whining about? You're covering i49.

For which we've been consistently bitched and moaned at for being terrible human beings ever since, jus' sayin'

(I did upvote upfrag, fricking reddit ruining me, the guitar gif though, because it made me chuckle)

ChaplainArxdope-wolfArx Multiplay took the courteous approach and informed us that TeamFortress.TV had submitted a coverage proposal and that we too had to submit one, otherwise TeamFortress.tv would be given the coverage slot. Sure, the Multiplay events do not belong to VanillaTV.
What's wrong with this? two organizations submitting proposals to gain exclusive coverage of an event. This is how business works my friend, get used to it.

Nothing is wrong with it. But surely the better solution would have been for the organisations to work together?

Yeah I think in an ideal world it would be perfect to unite both, but there has been too many Bridges burnt not to light the way to these conclusions. I want to support TF2 and that's why, despite my affiliation with TFTV, I will support VTV at i49 as much as I can and I genuinely want them to succeed.

I understand that you are an outspoken guy Arx, but I don't think this post achieves much more than hanging out dirty laundry for all to see. I think its great you're passionate about this game but if this is aimed at the TF2 community it shouldn't be so specific.

Blessings and do a good job

Thanks,
Chaplain

I don't think uniting the two would be a good plan. I think tf.tv should aquire vanilla.tv. Would vanilla.tv ever sell to tf.tv?

Both sides give as good as they get, and it's fucking pathetic. I'm honestly embarrassed.

Speaking completely objectively I wish that tftv had gotten the contract and could bring vtv in to help them, as I see it as the far bigger brand in tf2 at the moment and likely to bring in a larger viewerbase (eg. i46 a shit tonne of yanks preferred to watch DIY casts by seanbud and co rather than VTV). Things are the way they are though and I hope you all grow the fuck up - VTV and EU-tftv.

jesus this thread is retarded,

tf.tv proposed to cover the lan and went to mulitplay who get to decide who covers it and are now somehow the bad guys for doing exactly what they should do, and you're upset because you covered it before and that somehow in your head means you should cover it forever?

Wrong. This is how I believe things should have been played out.

1st - VanillaTV usually cover these events. If TF.TV wanted to cover it, they should speak to us.

2nd - VanillaTV and TF.TV should have tried to work out a way that the whole community could benefit, and put on the best show possible.

3rd - If these talks couldn't amount to an agreement, then TF.TV should send in a coverage proposal to Multiplay. VTV then respond. Multiplay then decide who should cover the event.

-----------------------------

The problem that I'm trying to point out, is that TF.TV skipped the first and second step. This is a hostile approach towards us, rather than one that actually looked at what would benefit the community the most.

There are calls for us to allow commentators and crew to come help out at i49. Honestly, I still think this is the best option, but can't you even see why I'm having trouble agreeing to this, when people attempt to shut you out of the game like they did?

So I assume there was no formal application procedure in place for the i49 contract? There has never been competition before, so it's not surprising.

If so, you can't blame TFTV for taking the initiative and submitting the proposal. If the contract was reserved for Vanilla, it would be irrelevant anyway, and if it's open to applications then it's fair that TFTV submit a bid. There's no reason why they should be expected to compromise.

I think this drama is fuelled by the fact there is not enough talent (in terms of both tech/streaming and casting) to go around, which is not a good reflection on TF2.

Just because you usually cover it does not mean you're entitled to it? Also i'm not sure why you're taking a proposal for work as a personal insult to VTV.

You are 2 separate organizations. There is no steps 1 and 2 when it comes to getting exclusive coverage for an event. That is what makes it exclusive coverage. Exclusivity. One. The one. The one coverage. The one coverage to rule them all.

Exclusive.

The fact that this sort of thing is aired on a public forum really gets me down. I've been so high on everything TF2 for well over a year now. This kinda stuff makes me sad :(

#41 This is indeed the right course of action for conflict resolution. Probably should have followed those steps for this thread too, replacing step 3 with "airing of grievances in a public forum." Of course I'm guilty of the same in many instances so it's the pot calling the kettle black while the kettle calls the stovetop even blacker and basically all the kitchen hardware is bitching at each other.

Because writing a hilarious whiny novella about tf.tv ON tf.tv totally doesn't reflect negatively on you and the organization that you represent for absolutely no reason even though you guys got the rights from Multiplay anyway! Because posting random videos from i46 is totally going to open our eyes to how shit skyride, Comedian, and the rest of the tf.tv crew really are and totally invalidates all of the work they've done and the grievances they hold towards your org! Because you totally aren't full of shit for implying that you want people to take this as merely a personal statement and not just an attempt to stir up drama with some of the most amusingly whiny shitflinging from "professionals" that this community has ever seen!

Of course not, I don't mean we have a right to cover it. What I'm saying is that we have been covering it for a long time. I would have thought it would be a nice thing to do from the point of two organisations who are here to help benefit the game of Team Fortress 2.

Broadcasting under the tf.tv banner and continuing to build an already decently sized brand would have been a lot more beneficial to the community than using barely alive vtv. If you do a bing search (google is based on your browsing history and would be biased) for competitive european tf2, vtv isnt even anywhere on there.

I haven't read 99% of this thread but the way I see it:
Work together as much as possible, and make a "top product" by combining skill. Doesn't matter where you come from.

Doesn't take away you should communicate who's doing what though, before the public gets involved with that.....?
