CM Storm QFR or Leopold Tenkeyless? Red or brown switch (I type occasionally if that makes a difference at all)
I know it's not what you want, but It's personal choice. If you think you are going to be doing a bit of typing then go browns but reds are better for gaming and will still be better than membrane keyboards for typing.
CM storm is pretty solid, but Leopold does take the cake when it comes to build quality. Question is do you want to pay for it? The design of the CM storm stabilizers is a bit annoying if you are going to be replacing keycaps but it's not like it's super bad.
EDIT: I have a Leopold with browns and a QFR with blues.

I love my leopold, and the brown switches are great. I think it's a good middleground that feels good when typing. I heard reds can be better for gaming though, but it's all preference.
Not really, I'm really just looking to buy the keyboard and just use it.
Browns are a good starter switch, I'd personally pick those over reds if you want a good all-round switch. YMMV with switches though, it is entirely preference.
I'd get the QFR over the Leopold, it's a very solid keyboard and it has some extra features that the Leopold doesn't have. It's also a lot cheaper than the Leopold at $65 right now on Amazon.

The only modifications I'm looking into are adding o-rings

The stabilizers are nicer on the leopold. Do your research before you make a fool.

o-rings make cherry mx switches mushy and disgusting
if you can't handle the noise, get a $10 dell membrane
p.s. leopold and coolermaster don't use the same board craig you dolt

right, the QFR is essentially a rebranded Filco, if I'm not mistaken.
Also, I tried some 80-A durometer o-rings once, they didn't feel too bad but I ultimately went back to no o-rings.

I have a Ducky with browns and a Poker II with reds and they are both great for gaming and typing. Browns have the "bump" that some people like more for typing, but I could type on reds all day. If you're worried about sound the reds are a bit quieter. Also CM keyboards are cheaper for a reason. They are decent starter boards but the build quality is not consistent.

2 products look very similar externally
they must be the same exact thing utilizing identical parts that are of identical quality

If pee was in fact lemonade then they would both be lemonade and you would be correct.

2cclear advantage on that there leopold dolt
From the keyboards I have on my desk

Also to note that the leopold just pops on while the QFR took me a bit of time to try and line everything up, and involved me bending the bar while I put the key on. That might not seem like much, but there are also stabilizers on the shift, enter, backspace, and the plus and enter on the numpad. Simply put, less reliability
Not saying that it's a big issue and you should not buy a QFR, but there is a difference.

Costar stabilized keys like the ones on the QFR are actually pretty easy to remove, you don't need to remove the inserts from the keycap to do so.

brown switches are real nice. I've tried red and there's barely any key feedback. I say go brown

o u type occasionally. fascinating. personally, I never type on my keyboard 100 percent gaming only. I understand why you would write that though, everyone knows if you type even one 'lol' with reds you will get aids and die.
imo
QFR (the Leopold having better stabilizers is a valid point but so is ~30usd)
Browns (I like them over Reds for gaming, I'm fine typing on both)
(I have a Leopold with Reds and Filco with Browns)

I've decided on brown switches, now I'm still debating on which keyboard. I don't mind the stabilizers really, but I guess if I'm going to clean it every now and then it'd be better to get the Leopold?
