ESEA Client Trouble Threads Deleted From TFTV/ESEA

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears the thread on ESEA seanbud made about the ESEA client issues has been deleted. It also appears the thread on here has been deleted as well.

???

Edit: All jokes aside, I think it's pretty fucked up that when we try to bring our concerns with ESEA to their intention, it's shot down without reason or compensation.

Edit 2: Apparently the thread is still up on ESEA but it's no longer visible on the sidebar.

I always delete the threads after the night is over so as to not flood Enigma's sites with ESEA client update articles. It's really just a tool for me to get the word out and I'm pretty sure the one on ESEA is still there.

I don't think it's about that. It's about being told Monday the client is broken when it shouldn't have been. Not only that, but we were told Monday night it would be fixed by Tuesday, which it damn well wasn't.

killing is basically hellstorm at this point

but seriously, do you think that killing is responsible for this? He is just passing along the information given to him. He's not the one fixing the client.

Show your anger on the esea thread (which is off the sidebar because it's not one of the most recent posts, not because the admins are hiding it)

The tf.tv article was deleted, just the same as every tf.tv article about esea outages, and the esea thread is still up

as far as i can tell there is no point to this thread and we're just whining about killing, and i'm explaining why i don't think there's a reason to whine about killing.

I honestly think killing is a good guy/admin. But really, if he could be a little more transparent and hell, even show some support for the game he supposedly loves and could lobby the higher ups to stop treating us like shit.

You could have at least moved the thread off of the article page and onto General Discussion. I doubt your intentions were bad but it's still a joke that you swept it under the rug regardless, especially considering you're an ESEA admin.

I liked that thread because it was one of the few times during a discussion about yet another one of ESEA's displays of incompetence where the good ole ESEA Cycle

Nope, and at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if it never is.

KillingI've been told that the client will be fixed for tomorrow morning.

@Kohaku:

Some of the same people that have taken community dollars to go to LAN have also done their part in contributing to the community. It's not always a black-and-white relationship.

Furthermore, there are some invite players that have really never taken that much money at all from anyone to get where they are today.

Your complaints of the ESEA service are valid, however. In a perfect world, we'd have an ESEA league system that really works and is worth buying into.

There are alternatives already on the books: CEVO and UGC. The drawback with those is that UGC is not designed with the invite community in mind, and that CEVO hasn't really been given a chance by the same people that talk a big game on the forums.

can somebody at esea at least pretend they give a fuck and give us occasional information to let us know whether we can expect to play or not before our actual match times?

Of course. I didn't mean to say that all Invite players were thieves or that their contributions were negative to the community

I know it's not Killing and Kalkin's fault, but there is a lot to be angry about here. The level of transparency is abysmal, especially after their community discovered the bitcoin miner hiding in the code on their own (note that I'm over them doing that, but simply using it as a milestone for lack of honesty and transparency in the organization). The way it is now, it seems like there is a severe lack of interdepartmental communication. I mean, we're all a bunch of nerds who play videogames all day - do the people in charge of the client think we won't understand any degree of their problem? At least tell us that something is wrong with it, and you don't know what, or if you do know, tell us a real deadline. I'd rather be told "I'm not in the loop about progress; I really don't know when it will be fixed" than "It'll be fixed tomorrow" day after day.

There are a bunch of local LANs that could be co-opted as regional championships by the community.

It might take a bit of downtime to go from ESEA to regional LANs but as long as there are competitions and coverage, the scene could do fine without LANs for a little bit.

No one really wants regional LANs though. People like ESEA LAN because it has the top teams playing tons of matches against each other and has players producing videos that lets them see the people that they support.

eSport teams rarely regional though. Within a certain part of the country to get good pings maybe but not really regional. That being said a league could probably rent 24 computers and a couple of servers at a pre existing LAN for fairly cheap.
