I have returned, do not fear my child, your daily fix of finding out about classes you either find gimmicky or annoying, but secretly wish you could play it with the same finesse and skill as this man. I am of course talking about the Spy class and a man so famous and popular in TF2, with more screaming High School fans than One Direction and more hours on Spy than most of us have put into the game. I am of course on about the man, the legend that is Stabby Stabby who is said to be more popular than Jesus and looks a little like Quentin Tarantino, with the same methods of violence perferred. Despite having murderous intentions, outside of game Stabby is one of the most friendly and pleasant people you could hope to be on a team with and with such a massive base of knowledge for playing Spy and a successful Highlander career winning UGC Platinum in Season 8 and the ETF2L Highlander Nations cup win very recently, he has the trophy cabinet to back up his reputation. So I decided to get in contact with my man Stabbz, though I had the choice of interviewing the likes of Pulse or Acooma, but them being men of little words I wanted someone with more opinions whilst the likes of Noko from mTs would have caved in to my charm and good looks whilst Columbianmrg would have made too many wise-cracks and puns that I would have shuddered at another joke about anti-gravity being too hard to put down. Don't even get my started on that Finndy kid...So here I am now with a long set of questions for our man Stabby stabbz to sink his teeth into:
Present times
First of all, you are one of the most renown TF2 players in the world, hundreds of thousands of views on Youtube, thousands of subscribers and followers, why just by wearing the -ts- tag I got asked at least a dozen times in pub if I

Also, I want to see Season 11 Ginyu take on Season 8 The Syndicate. I guess we need some sort of dual cloning/time machine?

I totally agree that aim is very under rated on spy. I would go so far as to encourage up and coming spies to play a few hours of mge.

My comment wasn't intended as hate. He was on a highlander team that placed first in UGC platinum. As far as I can tell that's the highest level a spy can compete at. Not much left to prove there. Most people I have known that main spy or some other non-6s class eventually move to a different class with a higher skill ceiling or quit the game. If he quits competitive it is totally understandable.

Stabby's such a nice guy, like a lot of players he's can get caught up in this game and gain a bit of an ego, but ultimately he's a pleasant chap who I have only ever had positive interactions with whether playing with or against.
Couldn't...really say the same about you sir now could I? I remember a scrim you spent the entire game spamming binds, it's amazing anyone ever took you seriously.

I like to respect other players when I scrim, and I always take it as seriously as possible whether it's a UGC Steel team or a High Open team we're scrimming. ANYONE can get caught up in their ego if they had a youtube channel with 47,000 subscribers and a stream where everyone usually tells him he's the greatest spy ever.
If Stabby is the kind of guy that has respect for anyone else, regardless of who they are, then he's a great person in my book.
Also, an entire team that spams binds the entire game is a team that nobody wants to scrim, and nobody likes.

i spent one scrim spamming shit to you because you made up some random bullshit excuse as to why your self-inflated ego filled team of idiots lost to us in a shitty highlander match. if i recall you said it was a "fluke win" and it was a dumbest shit ive ever heard and we were laughing at you the entire scrim for being such a dunce

Uhhh I didn't even use the word "fluke", you guys invented it - I am sorry we took Highlander seriously and you didn't, I guess that means you're pretty cool and we're nerds.
I don't get why you got to give stabby grief, maybe I deserve it for my love of trash-talking but not stabby.

Good interview, fun read, let's lay off the hate guys I think this isn't quite the time for it; some people want to read about highlander spy.
I think just like I understand the easyness of playing heavy stabby understands the limitations of spy; the class takes skills in certain areas, perhaps not the same as scout/solly/demo, but ultimately is limited by the other team letting you stab them. teamwork and awareness limit the success of a spy.

"and hey this happened in that one video which we all ripped stabby to shreds over for no reason heh remember that guys"
On topic, fun interview. I only read the parts that weren't spy related since I'm not too interested, but I lost it at the village people joke, especially the image.

The only thing I think anyone who has hung out with Stabby and not just seen him on 1 bad day in a youtube vid could not like is the more fanatical parts of his fan base, but that's pretty accurate for anyone who has a sizeable fan base so.

As a guy, Stabby has always seemed really cool to me. His fan base is annoying, but as long as you ignore that he's fine. I'm just a little bit annoyed that he was chosen for the interview. Excluding spies on your own team, Stabby is one of the most well known spies. He's a good spy, but he's not a great spy, and the new "shift" towards reconnaissance spying he talked about was pretty much started by other spies. In fact, he and Evan were some of the last highlander spies to really contest that the distractions of 24/7 deadringer and spycicle were worth it. All in all, it was a fun read, but I would have enjoyed hearing from Pulse, Acooma, Noko, Rainy, or even the horrible puns of Columbiangmr.

Colombia's pun's are great, but I'm glad to see people from different interviews from different teams. Keep up the good work Hildreth, looking forward to seeing this continue as a weekly thing! And while I've never had much interaction with Stabby personally aside from a pug or two, he's got a boat, so I'm gonna assume he's probably a pretty cool dude.

fireindaarcadeI would have enjoyed hearing from Pulse, Acooma, Noko, Rainy, or even the horrible puns of Columbiangmr.
Pulse from experience interacting him has been very reluctant to speak out, Acooma I don't really know. Noko would have been a good choice as well, I don't even know Rainy or Columbiangmr and I don't really have the time to chase people I don't know too well, Stabby's the logical choice really, very outspoken and willing to answer many questions.

aykarinIf this carries on being a regular thing it would be fantastic. Perhaps have some from the 6v6 scene too?
Not got much personal interest in the 6v6 scene, in terms of interviewing people, rather focus on HL people although my next one will feature a famous 6v6 player who I hope can answer questions on both formats.
