g400 Freeze (Not complete)

I bought a g400 when I saw hooli's post about how they were ultra-cheap.
Basically since I plugged it in, It's been occasionally freezing, though not in the complete way it seems to happen to everyone else, more of a sudden, really low sensitivity. Also, Windows doesn't beep, or give me any popups about it being unplugged/plugged back in. I've tried changing polling rates/DPI, no luck. I've reinstalled drivers, tried both USB 2.0 and 3.0, and tried it with my old, crappy-as-hell unnamed korean brand mouse, which still tracks fine. Anyone who knows how to fix this/is better at searching various forums then me?

G400 has defective cords or something and they start to lose connection, getting progressively worse as time goes on.
Email/call logitech and RMA your mouse and you should get a shiny new one for free.

If you read my post you would know that it isn't losing connection, and that I got it very recently.

I know this may sound stupid, but are you sure you aren't just bumping the dpi buttons on the mouse?

have you tried it on another computer? if it happens on a different computer then it is the mouse and as crimsonhead said just RMA it. logitechs RMA policiy is pretty great. i just rma'd mine a week ago and all they asked for was the P/N number and some other stuff which you can find on the mouse. i got the new one in only 3 days too while they said it would take 7-10.

This is true. I'm on my third g500. Logitech has now sent me two replacement g500's, and all I had to do is what harb said-give them a little information and they send a new mouse right to your door, you don't even have to send them the broken one.

I also bought a g400 from seeing hooli's thread. It's already been a week and it works great.

If it mean anything I didn't install the drivers at all. Just plugged and played.

Just contact Logitech. Mine did the same thing as yours after 3 months. Mouse would freeze but not make the disconnect/reconnect sound from Windows and sometimes the sensitivity would be lower especially after resuming from sleep mode. It still worked and I put it in my spare PC after they gave me a new one, but it just kept getting worse, freezing more often, and eventually would disconnect with the Windows beep.

The cord is garbage. It's literally half the diameter of my old MX510's cord, which still works after 7-8 years of service. It's obvious Logitech cut as many corners possible in build quality to deliver that type of gaming performance at such a low cost.

yeah...their cords are prone to wear/fail. I don't see why they don't realize that sending people replacement mice is more expensive than spending 50 more cents on a better cord upfront...yet they have no problem doing that.

Yeah, gonna RMA this tomorrow. I can already feel it happening more often, within 2 days of getting it.

Same here, just called because of the exact same problem with my Logitech G400. Did not have a recipe anymore either. But they just noted the P/N and PID number and I needed to send a photo of the mouse and they are gonna send a new one tomorrow. It's not a cord problem btw, it's a technical flaw in the chip or some connectivity problem. Mine is not loosing USB connection either, it just freeze up. Almost like it's sending faulty interupts, because sometimes other USB devices freeze up as well together with the mouse.

If I were to get a G400s, and the cord craps out, I can get a free replacement. However, if my replacement craps out, would I be eligible for another free replacement? I really loved the MX518 but I had 6 of them. They wouldn't let me replace after I already got a replacement so I always had to end up buying a new one. Is it different now? Please say yes because I have been using a spare kinzu for almost 2 years now and I hate this mouse.

I've personally owned at least 6 MX510/MX518/G400s over the years, and only bought two, the rest were all free replacements. I've had replacements on my replacements before even, thats never been an issue for me.

This is why I steer clear of refurbs. They're incredibly hit or miss and frequently don't carry a warranty. There are tons of different refurbishment policies, but most of the time, companies are selling a combination of items that were once broken as well as items that were returned for pretty much any reason. If person x returned the mouse because it was randomly disconnecting and the 'refurb facility' couldn't reproduce the issue, they may repackage it and sell it as refurbished even though the problem was never fixed. Sure, there are the lucky few who buy a laptop 'refurb' and it ends up being a machine that someone returned because they didn't like the touchpad or something else minor, but there's a very high number of broken refurb items from most companies.

It sucks that you received a bad one. You should still probably call Logitech and ask if it's covered.

I got it at the time when stores were selling out of them getting ready for the g400s's, came in new packaging and in all ways I could tell was new. I got a replacement, and then a replacement for the replacement over a period of about 4 weeks, and then eventually they offered a g300 instead as a replacement, stating that they couldn't replace the g400 anymore (Which I knew was bullshit), and I accepted it because I knew that it at least wouldn't fall apart. The damn thing is tiny, weighs about the same as a pocket knife, and looks really dumb, but it hasn't fallen apart yet.

I used to have this kind of problem with my old steelseries mouse. It turned out to be a power issue. Possibly your problem? It could be that you have too many USB devices plugged in. For me, it was a combination of that and also that I'd just upgraded my video card and the power supply was just barely able to keep up.

Back when I used to use a G500 it would exhibit the same problems you just described if game profiles were enabled in the logitech software. Sometimes my sens would go from x"/360 to like 20x"/360 for whatever reason, and that all stopped when I disabled the per game profiles or whatever the setting was called.

harbleulogitechs RMA policiy is pretty great. i just rma'd mine a week ago and all they asked for was the P/N number and some other stuff which you can find on the mouse.

Really? I tried rma'ing my g400 and the lady said I needed to provide a receipt, which I no longer have. Maybe I'll try again and get someone more lenient? :D

I got so paranoid that I taped the wires onto my table, I made sure the wires had enough space to roam around, and I haven't had an issue for a while. Love this mouse <3

Same problem of freezing here. Moving a mouse in a round for some seconds you get one second of freeze(nothing works then, clicks, wheel but laser) sometimes its 1 second of round, wow doing that right now its every second and just got a message that device malfunctioned and its not working anymore and laser is off :D godspeed magnificient bastard. T_T jokes, had this for like 5 times already. Replugging does the thing. Sometimes only different port works. Well i think that's it.
