I will be trying to play a spectral throw 2 hander (not sure which yet) blood magic character and I want to incorporate animate weapon and guardian into the mix.
Will most likely play the shrine league. I'm euro so timezones. Add me on steam if you wanna play anyway.

Never really got too into the ARPG genre but I played this when it was in closed beta and had a ton of fun. The devs are great guys too! Give them lots of money

brownymasterChris confirmed on Kripp's stream Trigger on Crit will activate for each enemy critted.
My build's going to send me to SC right away if that's true.
Yo browny, can you add me? I wanna talk to you about theory crafting and junk

Played it in the early stages of open beta but stopped following it lately. Is it still going to be free?

Yeah it'll still be free.
Krips stream was pretty funny last night, especially watching him contemplate running away from his spectral throw.

Probably better to just talk it out in this thread. I'm very biased vs certain builds and I'm not good w/ SC builds (I figure for those just do whatever you want). Someone else might have better theorycraft for you.
Also, wifi 2 shit where I am. Almost died in rocky to a dead flame helion. I guess all I can do now is theorycraft until my connection is better or I buy a 5ghz wifi adapter.

Is this game easy to pick up/time intensive or not? I'm interested in playing a bit, but I don't want to sink half my life into learning it or progressing in it.

Not really. I can hit level 60 in under a day, or just over it if my build is planned out right and I get some good drops along the way. You really gotta learn the path you want to take your character and know it well. You have to have good reasons for heading towards another node in another area of the skill tree. It takes some getting used to, and the skill tree can be overwhelming, but it's really just a table of colors and stats and your character base is the closest of all the nodes you want first. It doesn't take long to learn if you look up some builds that have some in-depth guides. You really start to get a feel for the game once you've built that exact one too.

It's fairly easy to play on a basic level. The thing is that the passive tree is so huge that you need to theorycraft/plan your build ahead of time according to what skill you want to use.

I'll tell you this, it's not an easy game. But it's very rewarding if you invest a little time and try and learn about the game.

I just tried it, finished a couple hours session and I must admit I'm kinda disappointed, it does seem a very complex and well thought game, but on a genre like this for example Torchlight 2 got me hooked way more than this. I know its not necessarily comparable but still...

Did you think TL2 was complex?

The skill tree is definitely much more simplified but the game itself was a lot more fun to me since the begining, everything from the art style, to the characters itself, skills and mobs. Also like the way the inventory, items and weapons etc were handled more on TL2 than on path of exhile.
I know in the end these are 2 pretty different games, but I was so hyped for this game for the past few weeks/months and now that I just played it I just felt turned off by it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but TL2 (which I also enjoy a lot) is a lot more casual than PoE. It's simpler, which means you get lots of flashy and effective moves right from the get go. PoE is about earning effective moves through long term planning and building. Cleave isn't too exciting when you get it. Neither are traps or twin arrow or any spells on their own. But dominating blow gets a lot more exciting when you give it AoE and other buffs so that every time you slam the ground you create a small army of minions. But you won't be doing that until way higher levels.
Try watching some streams of big PoE players. It's really interesting to watch advanced players using no life builds or other unusual things that I can't think of right now. It depends on how much you like ARPGs. If you're really into them then PoE is about as deep as they go, but it's a lot of work to start seeing things that you might see in TL2 or D3. But it's so worth the effort to see a build come together endgame.

Man, I am in love with the shrines in domination league. So awesome.
Have yet to try nemesis though. Fracture sounds super scary. :D
Anyone faced a rogue exile yet? They seem to be kinda rare.

I know TL2 is much more casual, hence why I said PoE was a really complex and wellthought game, it does have much more depth than TL2 in that field but I think its just me, I just can't be arsed to spend that much time with it or really getting into it, that's why TL2 is probably more fun to me.
I do like aRPGs, but the last one I played before TL2 was diablo 2 (which was a masterpiece of a game) I think after that and after being spoilt by TL2 simplicity I really dont have the patience to get into these kind of more complex aRPGs, unless it was an MMO, then it would be a different story, but PoE is not quite an MMO

I liked it when I was playing in Beta, but I didn't really have anyone to play with. Also, the first time playing you will fuck up your skill tree.
I will likely come back after the AH shuts down in D3. I hate the game, but people are still buying the shit out of items, so it makes up for it.

Cruel Dominus was insanely difficult for me.
