I read this thread hoping it'd get juicy and went 5 pages feeling like it was pretty dry and then I hit page 6 and now I'm just disappointed.

Like, really. Let's see, we have:

1) insom - confirmed VAC ban (although not for TF2), shitty attitude in pugs (okay, we've all been there), likes to troll and has a really poor choice of words.

2) dflame - 0 VAC bans, accuses people of hacking sometimes when they don't, periodic attitude problems, sometimes trolls, poor choice of words sometimes.

3) breloom, harvest, CharlesChoy, etc - like to stir the pot.

Why are we focusing on 2 and not 1? Like, why is it a bigger deal to call someone a hacker than it is to hack? Why are we lashing back harder against someone calling someone a hacker in PM than someone else photoshopping a VAC ban onto someone's profile? I'm just really really confused.

There's nothing more to talk about concerning point #1. He hacked, got caught and received a VAC ban due to it. Discussion concerning cheating in TF2 and being banned from ESEA has been done (he doesn't cheat in TF2, as pointed out by Pharaoh, and he isn't being banned from TF2 in ESEA).

With dflame lashing out at insom for "hacking" he painted a giant target on himself. Especially so after Pharaoh's post. The rest is forum tendencies.

Concerning the photoshopping; blame the circlejerk.

He's actually a fairly positive person from my experience with him in #tf2.pug.na. People get frustrated with him (including myself) in pugs because he's a very good sniper and off classes a fair amount because of it. I don't think he hacked in TF2 or ever will but with that said I have lost a lot of respect for him since he hacked in CS:GO out of childish rage.

Should it be considered more biased to write posts hoping people agree with you/be on one of the teams wondering if the match was played legitimately, than it is to be on the same team/or one of his directly affected close friends?

His most adamant defenders seem to consistently be in the same immediate group of friends. Why resort to childish names like "butthurt" over teams and players that put blood sweat and tears into improving at games, to see the very real possibility that the efforts might not matter in the end because their opponent takes actions that make his play highly questionable? That's the thing about cheating in any video games, even if its a game that "he doesn't care about." You willingly forfeit the right to call people who accuse you of cheating "stupid." If you've recently installed a wallhack/aimbot into an FPS, you've lost your ticket to be taken legitimately in an FPS game.

You're all judging his character like hes a horribly corrupt individual and his only intent in life is to make other peoples lives miserable. I'm sure you're all saints who have never done anything dumb or bad in your life.. Yes he does act like a sarcastic asshole but unless you're a massive vagina he really wont get under your skin. `insom is a great player and even went on to win at LANfest and even streams on a daily basis. Hes consistently good whether hes streaming or not so at no point could you be like, "OMG HE LIEK TOLY TOGGELED LAWL."

If we're really going to ruin his TF2 career based on what he did in some other game go ahead and ban 90% of us.

If we're going to ban him because of his attitude well than I could think of at least 50 other players that should be banned long before `insom.

But the thing is, he shouldn't escape punishment because he's a "nice person" and "did well at LAN".

With the phrakture incident and now this it would behoove the community to come up with a firm, coherent stance on how it feels about cheaters. A VAC ban's non-trivial, even if it's for a different game/on a different account. If the community's feel is "as long as they don't cheat in a match", so be it, but the players should still find it reasonable that their demos are reviewed with a little extra scrutiny.

I learned not to do bad things in my life because I was punished by the world when it figured out I did them.

How does that make any sense, "90% of us" haven't cheated, or modified the base program so we had an unfair advantage over others in other games.
