I just joined a server and my sensitivity was like 500 and my viewmodel was set to 150+ and then my game crashed..

I was just thinking about how i should buy a backpack expander because my inventory is always so full and then I get one out of the stocking. Thank you gaben.

I think the primary difference is that you have to land a headshot, which can be fairly difficult, whereas a free crit that you can hit anywhere with is much easier. Also, I believe you only get a headshot with the ambassador if its the accurate shot which you get for not firing for a second or so. You can't just spam and hope that the spread plunks them in the head, you have to actually wait and then line up the shot to get the crit. Basically, while it might seem like you get unlimited headshots, your fire rate is decreased and you have to really wait for the damage, whereas every other class just pulps the spy instantly.
That being said, I do think you have a point about spy in 6's seeing more play with the diamondback. Landing a backstab is hard enough as is, and rewarding that with a damage boost could lead to some crazy plays.

because one rewards skill and the other doesn't?

PlatinumI actually really like the diamondback change for 6s.currently the spy in 6s is used for one single pick, now we might see a bit more widespread spy usage if the spy is good enough to backstab and critical people. More diversity is good imo

Backstabs aren't exactly free outside of pubs, and successful escapes after a stab are rare since competitive spies often use stabs for one suicide pick before getting called out and immediately vaporized.

I'd sooner say one rewards aim and the other rewards a backstab, so they both reward skill if we're talking about a 6v6 environment where backstabs aren't mindlessly easy to pull off.
Amby is definitely the more challenging option, but it has the advantage of no set up requirement.

lets take the flamethrower, let it destroy projectiles and give it to the class with a monopoly on garbage obnoxious unlocks

critacola gets a buff despite being almost inarguably the best scout secondary meanwhile the scottish resistance and dalohoks bar are sitting at home eating icecream from the tub and crying

1. Scout is going to need a spacesuit at the rate we're going with him.
2. Having more tools in the toolbox is not a bad thing for the Spy to have, as long as it doesn't get so ridiculous in competitive play that he can pull off 3Ks in a very casual manner.
3. If only the Short Circuit would, you know, SHORT CIRCUIT enemy buildings. That'd be Great...
4. As if people weren't wearing enough hats already.

Look what the Scout is holding.
This is a red herring.

As I said I think getting a crit is a huge reward for a class that is literally designed around the 1-hit kill mechanic.
Maybe get a mini crit for each backstab would be more balanced? Or remove the 15% damage reduction entirely, put a slower firing speed like the amby (or smaller clip size) and reward kills and saps with minicrits instead of crits?

You guys have got to get over whether or not the kill was technically difficult. TF2 is different than quake because of classes like spy/heavy/pyro, and in my opinion it's better for it. These classes emphasize the importance of tactics and strategy by being easier to use but also situational.
You can't justify banning a weapon because it's too easy to use. If it doesn't significantly impact the game then the question of banning it should never even come up. All it does is make the spy slightly more dangerous, and that's not going to make any crazy waves in the meta.

eXtineafter you get the backstab, you'll still have to hit your shot...
hitting revolver shots is not very difficult, especially if its going to be a backstab>immediately pull out revolver and shoot someone turning around to shoot you as you backup from them

The difference is the diamond back isn't a new strategy. It's literally getting a reward for what you were going to do anyway. If scout got a weapon that made him insta kill after getting a meatshot, it wouldn't change scout strategy, it'd just be a scout doing his job and getting a buff for doing what he was already going to do. There's better ways to buff spy, giving him a babymode ambassador isn't one.

I think the most important skill to now have has a spy is to escape the initial backstab, if you pull that off and can score a 2nd stab, you can then instakill any main 6s class on the field that isn't buffed.
The odds of that happening though, are slim.

You're completely right. It's a free easy to use upgrade that doesn't change spy strategy at all. But it doesn't change the meta either. It doesn't make Spy disproportionately more powerful. There's no reason to ban it.

On a side note, the soda popper change while really silly is the most fun I have had in a while, literally flying across the map on pubs to land on a jumping soldier head and meatshot him to the ground.
I think the Diamondback concept is awesome but they should nerf the base damage more (it's only 15% atm) so the crit doesn't do as much. I think nerfing the base damage more would make it a sidegrade to the revolver than an upgrade 95% of the time. For the way it is right now it seems like it would be pretty fantastic (potentially overpowered) in Highlander and just decent in 6v6.
I don't know what to think of the Short Circuit other than it's hilarious and fun to use. If you get close to a soldier or demo they pretty much just die. Most of the Engineer's unlocks are obnoxious as fuck to play against so I don't see this being changed even if it should be. I think the AOE might be too big, it seems to destroy anything on your screen when you're using it rather than just what you're aiming at.
I haven't played with the other items all that much but it seems like a pretty solid update. The stocking was pretty cool and I unboxed an adorable squirrel named Chucklenuts!
