Just needed to say that the CEVO team has been quiet as we are finalizing things and there will be announcements, registrations, stat updates and a date for community meeting. Again to make things clear, it is my personal view that both ESEA and CEVO be played but AG simply doesn’t support ESEA as a sponsor any longer for reasons I have already explained. There is room for more supported leagues in the community. Please hold out on judgments and assumptions till CEVO plans are officially announced. Stay tuned…

I honestly don't care how corrupt ESEA is or how disrespectful they are to privacy(most of you have no idea how little privacy you even have). I, just like most seasoned players, value competition over how "nice" or "honest" ESEA is.
From the looks of things CEVO is going to be the new UGC; the league that nobody(6s) takes seriously and as long as ESEA is alive or unless CEVO makes their service significantly better than ESEA's; that's how things are going to be.

hooliunless CEVO makes their service significantly better than ESEA's; that's how things are going to be.
That's the thing.
ESEA is scattered with problems even for the most general things. Laggy servers, horrible connection leading to bad ping, no exceptions rules, lack of updating stats, no team move up rules (except for invite) which causes sandbagging, taking advantage of monthly premium costs.
If CEVO manages to have none/few of the problems that ESEA has then I think CEVO's service will be significantly better than ESEA's.

Sorry but as long as St. Patrick is banned at ESEA and lpkane is still an owner, I won't be giving ESEA another cent even if 90% of the community stays there. I'd rather quit the game than give people like that money.

Okay that statement is not entirely true. I care but not enough to abandon ESEA and play in a significantly less competitive league.

people confuse a realistic outlook with a bad attitude all the time
sticking your head in the sand whenever someone points out that the general population isn't organized/committed/passionate enough to change status quo effectively is the general approach to situations like this.

esea was a close call so people are 'mad' but cevo is the same thing, just not as far along
anyone who is out to make money will eventually fuck their consumers

Friendly reminder that some percentage of the money you give to ESEA ends up in harbleu's pockets. Just saying.
How is that in anyway a disincentive? If anything I would try my hardest to beat that faggot and take his money. What you demonstrated is just a pure loser's mentality.

Hi, I want to play TF2 again.
Hi, I want to play TF2 again.
I was debating joining ESEA, but then shit like this happened and downloading the client will literally get me suspended from the network for a month and a half, basically kicking me out of college.
Yeah no.

Watch the LAN this weekend and decide for yourself if ESEA is worth supporting. The indisputable advantage ESEA has over anyone in NA is the ability to provide a LAN with decent payouts. They are also consistent at it, which is almost unprecedented considering the depressing history of past NA LANs and their relationship with comp FPS games. An equivalent LAN with similar payouts, structure, resources, venue, organization, and administration will take a significant amount of time to resurface, if at all.
If you consider ESEA LANs to be a significant factor in the 6v6 TF2 competitive equation, then I think the choice is clear.

The LAN payouts only provide a monetary bonus to a very small, very select amount of people in TF2.
Giving cash to a couple of teams is not a good enough reason to purposely endorse a company that has done nothing but lie, cheat and infect its users PCs and whos management is openly hostile to the userbase. The LAN is nice, and CEVO has said that a LAN is possible in the future with them as well, but the LAN cannot be the sole deciding factor on ESEA support.
I would counter the argument by saying CEVO has openly and public worked with the TF2 userbase in the possible switchover, holding mumble townhalls and such. ESEA has never done anything similar to help the TF2 community. You can say that CEVO has offered only words, but these words are for after this current ESEA season in which people are expected to switch, so they should not yet be held to them until the new season for CEVO starts (IMO).
It honestly boggles my mind that people would still defend ESEA after all this shit. I watch in utter disgust at all the things ESEA does and how so many people defend them while getting fucked over by them at the same time. Like I said before, stockholm syndrome. Seriously.

I feel like a majority of people here haven't been around long enough to remember cevo was pretty shit.
So far the changes I've seen is sizzling stats (supposedly) and a new website

Since I don't know 90% of the names on the forum, I am going to assume that these people saying they won't play ESEA next season are not currently playing in ESEA.
Otherwise it would not make sense, since if they truly believe that the client is a threat to their privacy/safety they would have quit midseason in order to prevent further damage. Although teams have died, I have yet to hear a team dying for this reason and it has been nearly 2 months.
So if I am correct, the people saying NO to ESEA were not playing in it anyway (making this argument irrelevant) or if I am wrong these people have still been playing on this client that they think to be a security threat/threat to their PC (which would make them dumb).

With a quick glance I'd say almost everyone in this thread plays or played ESEA, with the exception of the euros. Just because they aren't good enough for you to know doesn't mean they aren't important.

That isn't the problem. I trust the client on my PC now, because they have court ordered restrictions and even ESEA isn't stupid enough to fuck that up. They don't want to continue playing because ESEA is a shitty company who they don't want to support. Might as well get something back for the money they have paid though by finishing the season.
