Fragile is going to announce the official games played at GXL soon, but obviously you can play whatever with whomever, otherwise.

I can pick up anyone at the airport friday, thursday, or earlier if need be. In general, I can drive around the philly area and suburbs as needed.

Anybody need to get picked up along the way? I start from Minnesota.

There will be other games on Friday and Saturday, but if you're participating in the TF2 tournament on Saturday, you are not allowed to play in anything else until you've been eliminated. We are going to have no delays this tournament.
However, feel free to play in anything on Friday. :]

I'll put you down on the carpool list, just give a Google maps path that I can post.

I might go as a spectator if I can get a ride from Ottawa.
I just booked my flight. Coming in Friday morning, leaving Sunday afternoon. Being 6'6 I literally had to say that I had a "disability" so I could sit in bulk head to get the extra leg room.
There has been talk of laser tag. We should make teams and organize a Thursday night laser tag tournament.
OMG, I'm so fucking pumped. Why can't it just be October already, so many cool people going. Can't wait to meet all of you! <3

I'm a hockey player, and I intend to play full contact laser tag. I will go all Liam Neeson on everyone.

When is the last day I can purchase a gxl ticket?
I want to go but I don't know if I'm going to be busy during that time.

I have no hope of attending but I'm excited by all this hype.
Good luck, NAfriends. This is gonna be good.

You can buy them until they sell out. In previous years we would get maybe ~30 players from the comp tf2 scene and sometimes there would still be a few seats left and tickets would be sold at the door. I don't know how many people the GXL is going to hold this time (350, maybe more?) but considering we already have around 100 pre paid players just a couple weeks after registration opened, and there's still 6 months to go... I would play it safe and get a ticket ASAP.

Nick said if it looks like there's a chance of it selling out he would let us know well before hand. So as long as you pay attention to this/the official announcement thread, you should be safe.
But they also do refunds up until 2 weeks before the event, so if you have the money now there is no harm in buying now.

Living about a half hour away I should probably go to this, I don't really know anyone in the community so this should be interesting. If anyone wants a ride from the NE/Bucks let me know.
Gonna roadtrip across the state with two gaming PC's in the back, SHOULD BE AMAZING! Do have some questions tho...
1. Is there just one Tournament for Invite/Main players or are there other tournaments for lower level people? I'd love to play in something that mattered, but I'm a shitlord.
2. If there aren't, will there be Pugs i.e. if I'm not playing in the tournament should I bother lugging my gaming desktop clear across the state (I'm in NW PA).
3. Will monitors be provided?
I plan on attending regardless, I just don't know if it will be as a player or as a spectator. If anyone could help that would be huge. Look forward to hanging out with fellow TF2 enthusiasts.

JaguarFiendI'd like to go if some sort of carpool deal could be arranged. Any other Toledo, OH guys going (disengage? iFY?) Or is anyone maybe going to be passing through Toledo and would be willing to share a ride?
Bit late for this but I plan on going and I'm just a tich east of you near Erie if that will help at all :)

TurinIs there anyone carpooling that is driving through Columbus, OH? An 8 hour drive is killer alone.
I'm to the east man and my friend seems to be bailing on me and I need a ride, hit me up if you want to arrange something.

radiumshowstopperWaldoCan one of you LAN vets explain how hotels usually work out? I'm guessing most people don't sleep at the venue.

...except nobody on Saturday was drinking cheap shit. It was mostly middle-of-the-pack ciders with a few NW microbrews and high-end IPAs.
The TF2 community is not cheap about beer whatsoever.
This excites me... I'll have to brew some of my own for this occasion!

dashnerThere will be only one "official" 6v6 tournament on Saturday as far as I know.
There are tons of things other than the tournament to do on the Friday and Saturday post-tournament, ranging from pugs to the draft tournament thrasher wants to run again, not to mention just meeting cool people.
Don't be afraid to enter the tournament though, I know that Nick is going to try to make it rewarding for everyone participating.
BYOC means bring your own monitor as well so I do recommend you bring your own.
Thanks Dashner! Don't have a job (taking care of my mom) but I have my Bday before then that I'll spend every penny from to go to this if someone can pick me up from NW PA (put me on the list? I won't pay til I have a confirmed ride. My cousin and I were gonna car pool but he's "afraid people won't hang out with him and we will be the two fat kids picked last in gym class" or something gay like that). Can't wait to meet everyone, especially the fellow Beer conosiours (It's in philly, yuenling is delicious and costs literally 30 bucks for a case... Case race anyone?). Plan on arriving thursday afternoon! :D
