I'm planning on making this look more presentable, but as of now this works.
MasterKuni & RaysFire are mostly responsible for this. I cant thank them enough.
Adding IRC to your TF2:
1. Download this zip file.
2. THIS IS IMPORTANT: If you have a custom cfg, either delete the file named motd_entries or make sure it replaces motd_entries in that folder \Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom\...
Otherwise just replace the motd_entries file in your root tf cfg folder
\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\cfg
3. Open TF2 and find the news tab on the main menu. Click "Read More" and the windows will open in your steam community overlay (Shift+Tab screen)
If you would like to add your name to connect faster or add more windows, go into the motd_entries file you downloaded. It will look like this.
"motd_entries"

To add your name to IRC: 'http://irc.lc/gamesurge/tf2mix/NAME' & 'http://irc.lc/geeksirc/tf2.pug.na/NAME'
To add windows: window.open('URL', 'RENAME WINDOW');
Make sure to paste the code inbetween the semicolon and quotes. ('URL', 'NAME');HERE"

Launching your game will take a few seconds longer, in order to load & close the map to pop out the windows. These windows are persistent on screen when you join a server and will need to be manually closed. Other than that, no.

Sezco2. Go to your autoexec in your custom folder
shouldn't that be cfg folder? autoexecs aren't in the custom folder.
edit: sorry, I am wrong and bad at knowing things. :\

THANK YOU
This is amazing, thank you Sezco and co.
I've got a question though. Say I start up TF2, join a pug, close the windows and play. Is there some way to reopen those windows later ingame, or would I just have to restart TF2?

In your console type:
map cp_cloak;wait 2000;disconnect;
This will initiate the process for re-opening the windows. You could technically make this a bind if you so desired.

Just discovered you can change the wait part of the script to 500 so it'll be like this
cl_disablehtmlmotd = 0;map cp_cloak;wait 500;disconnect;

I would strongly advise against adding TF2center to your game, it doesn't work at all. The reason Kuni and I were hesitant to release this to the rest of the general public is because it's nowhere near fully functional.
Sure, you can join a game on the TF2center web page, but upon readying up and having the game start, it won't automatically launch the server, and both the join server and join mumble buttons do nothing. The only way you can still play is by knowing how to extract the connect line info from the link yourself via a right-click and "copying link address", then converting that to the proper format and joining mumble on your own.
Another reason we were hesitant to release this is you can't play the game while these windows are open. We're looking for a solution, but the only thing this is good for at the current tine is adding up to a pug and crafting/doing nothing while in game.

ghettoWhen you close the window are you still added up and can you still hear the notifications when the bot is kicking someone or teams are picked
If you close any of the windows, you aren't added up anymore.
I'm trying to find a solution that minimizes the motd and makes the window lose focus OR make the motd fall back to the main menu. I would like to have this up and running as soon as possible, but a job slows me down. If anyone wants to help find a solution or optimize this rough draft, just post in this thread. I'll make sure to credit you.

Internet Relay Chat. It is the system used for TF2Mix, PUG.NA and other similar TF2 pick up game services.

Please don't use this to connect to TF2Center. We won't support the steam browser at the moment. You will never receive the connect info.

I don't mean any disrespect at all, but this seems kinda useless at the moment I mean it definitely has the potential to be a 3rd party staple to tf2, like chris's configs or something you tell somebody is new to tf2 that they have to get ,but it seems too premature to release at the moment

I agree, which is why we were hesitant to tell anyone about this in the first place. I want to make it clear that the purpose of this thread is more to tell people that this exists and we're working on improving it (and we're definitely open to input from people who are able to advance this proof of concept).
Otherwise, hang tight, we have a few other ideas in the works that might end up being more practical for everyday use.

I'd be interested in helping make this more viable. Do you want people to just work on this on their own and post results in the thread?

MK hit it on the head, but I'm about to nail it to the ground.
Kuni and Rays have already laid down the foundation for something that could have been created years ago. No disrespect, but that useless idea was the impetus to have a working template within a few hours. Instead of three people working on a premature idea, why not post the blueprints for everyone and get this fixed and operational today.

I would throw the edits on here or add me on steam. Whatever is more convenient.
