Riot throws all their money at comp LoL, Valve doesn't do that with Dota 2 (although they do support it more than comp TF2).

I think valve threw money out once at the start. At least once.
Also #13 that last post is hilariously awful.

dota2 is pretty much dota (the original moba that started it all) with a much better UI and graphics. LoL is the dumbed-down next gen dota owned by Riot. Because of how easy it is relative to the dota (you get stomped pretty hard at the start) and all the leveling/grind stuff, casual people love LoL. Riot has made so much cash from LoL that they can afford to throw money into LoL tournaments so they can call it an eSport even though it's not as complex. It's generally dominated by former dota players who know the game is trash in terms of gameplay complexity but know it has money. Not sure about the ESL part, but I imagine Riot dominates the tournament process for big LoL tournaments.
The last post the guy basically tries to argue that dota2 sucks by stating every reason why dota2 is better. Just confirms casuals are terrible and choose LoL in general. Not saying non-casuals don't play LoL (and for whatever reason), but plenty of casuals who can't handle complexity of Dota are complaining about big points that are much better.

you can't say any highly competitive game is "easy" because it's relative to the competition
the term you're looking for is depth

How? It really is a dumbed down dota. Doesn't mean that people can still enjoy it at other competitive levels. The mapsize is a lot smaller (but everything is slow as fuck). Wards aren't limited. Dying with oracles isn't the same as dying with eye in dota. Blink range vs flash is a joke. Less single player snowballing in LoL. Rune system, having to buy heroes, etc are just annoying complexities mainly there to make Riot money (though adds a lot of customization). Traded aegis for a team wide buff. No stats vs skills when leveling. It's true QWER always does something in LoL, where in dota it doesn't, but that's just the tradeoff.
Meh. I've probably played hon the most, then lol, then dota, then dota2. My group of friends that play each different game can be divided by which school they go to.
EDIT:

I meant easy to learn/play without sucking terribly, which is depth.

Anybody who plays LoL and can't admit that DOTA2 has more depth, complexity, and is overall more difficult is just in denial. LoL can be fun with friends and it is great as a casual game, nothing more than that really.
I'm just going to point out that also LoL has less hardware requirements than dota2
I like DOTA2 because its more fun to look at at.
I die a lot so that's a pretty big deal.
