Will this be frag movies and shit?
Or can something be implemented with POV's. So we can watch some really nice matches and dont have to search through youtube
Is there going to be some sort of standard set to what can be submitted, I can already see some pretty poor "frag movies" that are just really frags with music over the top.
Thanks, I'll fix that in a moment Bloodsire.
Duplicates / mirrored videos is an issue right now, I'll need to figure out a clever way how to prevent them. The sheer amount of movies submitted in the first 2 days makes it hard to uphold the quality, but I'm confident we will sort out the black sheeps eventually. Maybe some kind of reporting system would be cool?
Could someone enlighten me as how there are movies that are anything more than frags with music? Like can they have intricate plot lines or something? Or does that just mean edited to make the frags and music flow together or something?
Syncing music with frags, including commentary, smooths, good transitions, good use of effects, etc

A video that is 4 minutes of frags with an fps config, HUD and just some music put over it shouldnt be there.
Something that actually shows effort in terms of editing and quality should.
Would there be a way to embed videos not just through Youtube?
The reason I ask is because a lot of movie audio cannot be played on Youtube due to copyright issues. I think as long as this website remains unfunded by outside sources (ie: advertisements, banners, etc) it should be fine dealing with legality. [But this definitely is something to double check due to it being powered through Steam.]
To somewhat clarify what I usually look at when it comes to quality standards for a submitted video is the noticeable effort put into actually editing the video.
Things that are pretty much an insta no in a video:
-Damage numbers
-Hud
-Fps config tier quality
Don't even bother with these.^
What matters is the editing and not how sick the frags are.
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVcxwGTYmkw
Jukebox is an insane player but the video is pretty much just pov frags.
Doesn't exactly scream editing effort does it?
No matter how amazing the plays are, the damage numbers, hud and lack of any editing is a no no.
Example of what is a yes pls: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn8a08sS5qo
Note that not all of these things are essential for a video to be approved but are rather things that make a good frag movie.
-Good and clean colour editing and filtering.
-Caster commentary.
-Audio sync.
-No damage numbers, hud, fps config.
-Demo Smoothing.
-Not only 1st person POV's of consecutive frags.
Use of STV's for 3rd person parts etc. are never wrong.
It's not essential ofcourse but it definitely makes videos look better when you have some variation.
These aren't rules written in stone or anything. Just the guidelines I consider reasonable.
I like the concept. However, since you're already tagging videos by class etc. it'd be cool if, like others have suggested, there were either casts, full match POVs and also howto videos like the old MGE vids.
I mean, instead of just not allowing them it'd be cool if people can filter out only the kinds of videos you have now, OR if they want they can filter videos for only comp POVs for a certain class, or comp howto videos for a class or whatever...
I understand the site is new, so maybe look at adding this down the track if you have to add a bit of extra code to account for many different types of videos.

The coolest thing would be an exact PLDX clone, which doesn't rely on any video platform (e.g. YouTube) and where you could upload your video files directly instead without having to deal with lower quality because of forced reencoding. However, hosting such service would require beefier servers. Beefier servers are more expensive, and unfortunately I don't shit money. :/

yea that's all well and good, but what about

You're kidding me right?

Even though you're kidding I might as well say that a "pretty" intro and then a bunch of trash clips unedited frags isn't something I would approve.
Pretty sure the other mods would agree on this but I wont speak for anyone else and leave it at this.
Site threw some 500s from time to time, this should be gone now. Still need to find some free time to add requested features. Also, there are a lot of submitted movies that haven't been reviewed yet.

I probably could review them for you if I don't have to do anything too fancy
Sure, feel free to add me on Steam and I'll introduce you into the reviewing system. Thanks in advance \o/
when i try to go to the site it says 502 bad gateway. Fix?
