a mix^(or iM) vs 4G final would've been much much more intense
Imagine exertus being at i52 along with mix^ and 4G...

popcorpWhy were they even playing Grand Finals so early? couldnt they play at the evening or something? 4G had a clear time advantage, they had a lot of time to rest and practice, while Epsilon had like less than 10 hours to sleep + warmup.
Imo the time picked for Grand Finals was quite poor
From a multiplay stand point TF2 means very little to them. Plus they have to get all the grand finals done today by 6BST. As the finals tent needs to be taken down.
All in all an awesome tourny with a hugly anticlimatic and depressing end. RIP Epsi

That's why it's important to win the upper bracket finals. Honestly though, it serves them right if they spent last night drinking. Such a shame though, because everything before this (besides coleman) was sooooo good.

Thats such a trash excuse though, they lost because they were drinking. It's not like 4g baited them into doing it, and even if they did that´s just mindgames then.
You can´t say "well the players only lost because of some decisions the players made
It´s not some fucking abiotic factor out of their controle

Epsi just didn't play together, it's half new team and it's been together for like some months the last etf2l wasn't even played completely with WAR as demo, they need to set up better their team play apparently, beside that, they're good no doubt, froyo gave them a lesson in terms of team play and positioning, they still are tho, the most skilled players
very well played FROYO you deserved that completely, EPSI you've done a great work at this lan, i think you just need more time together to get things right, i55 is only a year away!

What's this whole thing about Byte? I was tired all weekend and had to give most of this years i52 a miss sadly.

Poor final but Froyo were clearly the best team of the Lan by a distance once they warmed up. IM, Epsi and Mixup were very closely matched but they were always playing for 2nd. I don't think any drinking had much to do with it, maybe a round or two.

Please guys, the early finals and timeframe thing is no excuse. It's quite normal on LANs that the LB final winners dont get much more than 6hrs of sleep. It should be more than enough provided you don't do crazy stuff in the night.

UB Winner's advantage was too big because of the schedule, but all teams knew this so credit to Froyo for winning UB in the first place.

There is no room for excuses. Froyo had to contend with jet lag and being in a strange and foreign land, without the added benefit of a week to boot camp. Epsilon definitely have the talent to make the final much closer.

never ceases to amuse me how the excuses always come up right after the loss, like they somehow weren't aware of the schedule until right this moment.

can iM just fly to na and have a lan party with mixup froyo and xts

Froyotech were almost definitely still jet-lagged, so I don't really buy the sleep excuse, especially because Epsilon easily could have gotten eight and a half hours of sleep if they tried. But hey, last year people on this forum seemed to think it was totally reasonable to say that HRG somehow completely forgot how to play with uber after the quick-fix lan so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This. Whatever the result would have been, no matter which continent won, there are always those who come up with the excuses. And while the excuses may be perfectly valid, when you lose you lose. This exact same thing happened back in i49 when USA took the third place.

They didn't finish the interviews until past 1am, with the final at 10am. It's not like they're sleeping on their desks. Maybe 7 hours sleep if they're lucky, but probably less. I don't think it would have mattered too much though.

Disappointing that Epsi had so many issues in the 6 months leading upto the event.
What was massively more disappointing was that ALL of those issues were completely under their control, but then it's not like they have an obligation to the fans to tryhard it for the 6-12 months leading upto the event; the only obligation was to themselves.
