Teapot_Can't believe those fucking idiots we're allowed to cast on stream 2, making everyone who put so much time and effort into this look bad.

I feel like I need to put this out there.

The reason to why Coleman and Shintaz got to stream on the second channel in the first place was because a lot of people asked for it.

They did a drunk cast at i49 and people loved it. So I assume Byte and Arie overlooked the fact that Coleman and Shintaz where never supposed to be allowed to stream again representing VTV, knowing they would give the .org a bad image, so that they could please the high on stream demand for those who actually did want to watch it.

I hate to say it but if the Coleman and Shintaz stream bothered everyone so much they could just have watched the same game with proper casting on the primary channel. (And the Majority of the people actually did.)

Sad to see it went a lot more out of hand this time though.

Hoping we will be able to pull something equally amazing off again next iSeries. Deffinately the best, closest and most interesting lan so far.

After seeing the i46 documentary and the beautiful i49 fragumentary, this whole sort of thing disappoints me greatly. Especially after a particular thing Lange said in the i49 fragumentary, something to the effect of "this proves how passionate we are as a community and that we will get our spot in the global esports scene even if we have to fight for it, even if we have to fund it ourselves". I remember Byte was asking viewers what they thought at i49 and people were just being outright jerks. Saying things like "HRG is trash and should just pack it up and leave, they're wasting their time being here and they should just go home". Not just one guy either, every single person Byte asked seem to agree that the Americans "should just go home".

Like hello do you have any idea how much time, money, and effort the community put into getting them there to actually bring global competition to TF2? and you're just going to tell them to up and leave because Mike is the best soldier ever or whatever it was that the drunken fucks were trying to slur out.

I don't see any problem with shit talk or getting competitive or anything like that, but this kind of complete and utter disregard for the outstanding effort and passion it took to give TF2 global competition of that magnitude is just scummy. It feels like these inebriated idiots are just shitting all over the absolute beauty that a large portion of the community has worked incredibly hard to create, and truly are just an embarrassment and disgrace to those of us that care so much about the game and love esports so much.

MaksKidIpzWhats your point, everyone should be quiet? No :D
That's not what I'm saying but I am sat like a couple metres away from harbleu and whenever they play all I can hear is him screaming 'I'm the best medic' or 'These guys are so bad' Or other lies he has to tell himself and it's just fucking nonstop. The moment they lose a round however; fucking silence. What's wrong with screaming 'nice' followed by the player name of who went big and some cheering when you do well like a normal team instead of being a big idiot.

"nice" followed by player name you say?

My Sentiments exactly, Twitch. Comptf2 is such a small community that is in fact held together, enjoyed and managed largely by competitive players themselves. Compared to the support that other esports receive this is actually admirable. Don't get me wrong, I think the bonds in this sport are deep, statements like "HRG/4G etc. are trash" like you exemplified might be considered banter by some, but if everyone at an event jumps onto that bandwagon, you're right, it's kinda shit. Of course you have to put in alcohol and high spirits as a consideration at these events too, though still

I wasn't there to witness the Seagull incident but I was there when he returned from the break. Mixup explained to me what happened and I tried to help ease the tensions but Seagull was absolutely pissed.

This was a slightly unique problem for this LAN because there was an enormous bar directly around the corner from the hall TF2 was held in. This made it extremely easy to get alcohol, resulting in many rowdy spectators.

I would have liked to see the guy ejected from the hall, but instead he was lead away where he started bragging about what he did to his friends. The general mood about the incident was "He was drunk *shrugs shoulders* nothing we can do"
I would have liked to see that taken more seriously than it was

On the topic of shit talk
After attending several ESEA LANS, its to be expected that Harbleu will try and talk massive shit
I say "try" because he does it to try and rattle his opponents. Sometimes it fails and he says the worst type of trash talk in the world that actually just makes people laugh. Sometimes it works and he gets people to start doubting themselves.

Whats important here is that this is an interaction between Harbleu and his opponent. I don't feel that the crowd should get involved in the matters between the players. Spectators at the ESEA LAN don't trash talk on behalf of the teams there and I don't think it should happen here either. Of course, this is slightly inevitable considering how large this event was, where the players were located and the fact that a bar was directly around the corner. That shouldn't be an excuse though, things went way too far and the environment these guys were playing in was distracting in every way possible.

I'd like to see better regulation of the crowd at future events. After witnessing the chaos happening -directly- behind these players I feel that they should be forced to move to the casting stage and away from the player computers at a certain point.

Anyways, sorting through 100+ photos atm

CHERRYT0mBumping into people whilst they're playing is stupid and rude.

Apart from that though you're all pretty much expecting to go to an english lan, everyone stays sober and no one shouts/goes a bit crazy. You're going to a lan in a country where not only are we famous for acting like hooligans during sporting events the main activity for people in their 20s is to drink.

Pick another lan in another country if you want to keep acting like idiots.
Hools in England lol, are you still in the fucking 70s?

But in all seriousness, after reading through 3 pages of this. I'm disappointed by coleman, drunk or not, that was stupid. Glad seagull handled it like a champ.

I'm impressed Epsi could hear each other with all the noise around them, when they played the comms on the stream i could barely make out what they were saying.

also, i agree with Tagg but having been to 5 iseries i can see why they wouldn't be able to do anything about it unless they seperated the players from the crowd, which ruins the iSeries atmosphere.

Honestly, no excuse for the behaviours, drunk or not, but yeah knowing the people involved, not really surprised.

People harassing players during games should have been told to stop or leave the area. I'm not sure who was the admin there but I saw byte walking around during the coleman/shintaz cast and he did nothing. He has the contacts there and should have done something. If seagull got really angry to the point of almost wanting to hit them then that's called bullying and is 100% not okay.

It's disappointing to see that the Americans are blaming the other people there when it was just a select few of bullies who should have been dealt with.

This was a tragedy, quite pathetic.

Americans are blaming the other people there

That it was allowed to go on, and even encouraged by the production is beyond belief and no wonder the Americans blame the wider EU group. What a farce.

One of the few guys on Epsilon who didn't want to celebrate a mere golden cap victory with drinking and instead chose a good nights sleep and probably a good read of the Bible beforehand. Also top damaged in almost every match, even in the final one they lost.
Definitely Epsi mvp.

A few things here.

Firstly, you guys have to realise that the insomnia events have never really been about the competitive side of gaming. Sure, they have tournaments on, but the core principle is the social side of gaming. What has happened over the years, is the fun tournaments have gained sponsorship and turned into competitive events. It is not a super serious event. Of course that isn't an excuse to interrupt players who are playing a competitive game, and the player(s) in question should know better, but worse things have happened at these events. I myself have had paper airplanes and beach balls hit me while playing in tournaments... but that's the kind of event these are meant to be.

Secondly, about the cheering the Euro teams and not the American teams.

You will actually find a lot of the players at the event are very neutral with regards to who wins the tournament. Yeah sure, there's a bit of EU vs USA banter that goes on, especially online, but actually, most people don't care.

However, the reason why most of the time people were cheering for the non-USA teams, it was because virtually everybody wanted an intercontinental final. With Froyotech going through early, it meant that keeping Epsilon and iM in the tournament for as long as possible meant that we could still have either an American Europe final or an American Australian final. In fact, even before Froyotech went through, people wanted iM to take down the Americans as that kept it possible to be an Australian Europe final.

When it came to the final, sure you had the home crowd cheering on Epsilon, but this simply wasn't because Epsilon are European... it was because they were the underdogs. From the games the day before, Froyotech were looking unbeatable. It was a bit like the i46 final... people were cheering for the underdogs... it was nothing personal against the other team.

I do think this post is a bit of an overreaction. I get that we as a community put a lot of effort into these events to make them the greatest spectacle we have in TF2... but you have to be aware of the history of this LAN. They give us a stage, they work with us because of how relaxed this event is in general. Try walking up to the dreamhack staff and telling them we want to have a community run stage area at their LAN... er.. yeah.... Dream(on)hack!

Sure we can go find a different event, in a different location to host our tournament... but we will be casting from standard BYOC desks or if we are lucky... a press room filled with other commentators or coverage staff who need the noise to be kept low.

Gotta take it a little less seriously... A little bit like TF2 as an eSport in general.

I definitely overreacted about the crowd behaviour, the only thing I really cared about was the harrassment of Mixup and Epsi players.
