Hello Canadians. I'd like to know which internet provider you use and what you typically get for latency. I bought a new house and went with eastlink highspeed... but their routes to the states are pretty bad, and they can't do anything to fix it. My ping at best is 40 higher than it was previously no matter where I connect from.
Thanks!

If you're rich, Bell is the best. TekSavvy is good for the price.

Yeah Bell isn't too bad. Rogers isn't really too bad out here in AB, but this is after we had to hassle the company for better speeds without having to upgrade our current plan.

My mother has Primus, and it routinely lags like shit during primetime. I ping 400+ to servers I normally ping about 60 to. EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. Basically, don't get Primus.

Putting my vote in for Bell FibreOp. If it's in your neighborhood, you can probably get a good deal. No worries about speeds or reliability ever. Stream all day with no worries - no usage caps. Getting 80 up 20 down even in Newfoundland.

I'm on telus.
As much as people hate Telus, it's more consistent than Shaw for others in BC.
I average around 60 ping to chicago and around 85-90 to dallas.

Bell FibreOp is really great. I ping <40 to Chicago and <70 in Dallas. Getting 100 down and 60 up in rural Nova Scotia

aw there's no bell fibreop in BC, does anyone know something similar to bell fibreop in reliability/price/speed?

If you happen to live around downtown Vancouver you could see if your building can get Novus:

I'm using the 25 plan which would probably the be best option unless you have money to burn.
It's $40 a month and gives you 25 down 2.5 up.
For awhile I had good routing to Dallas servers as well (60ish ping) but now it's gone back up to 90 ping so I might give em a call to see if I can get the good routing back.

I've had some form of Bell internet at 2 houses, had Rogers, and had 2 small local ISPs. Currently on 6th connection with Bell Fibe. 7th if I count my dorm internet at school.
Every single one has been loaded with issues. Some just didn't offer enough bandwidth for all the people using the connection, but most just had random ping spikes or dropped connection to the point where I couldn't play TF2. Even the Bell Fibe I'm currently on (which had great ping) has been having loads of issues a month after installation.
I kinda gave up on Canadian internet and take whatever I get.
