Foxuh so since i've never been to a byoc lan before and am bringing a laptop, should i buy a laptop lock or something like that or is the venue going to be pretty safe to wander around while leaving my stuff around
i'm probably going to wander around a lot, but i feel like it'd be a pain if i have to pack/unpack all my stuff every time i want to go somewhere
I can't promise that you'll be totally safe, as sometimes people are shitty and steal things. However, when anyone first checks in at the event, you will have a badge printed out that will mark down everything you're bringing. When you leave the venue at any point, security will check your stuff to make sure you aren't leaving with anything you didn't come in with.
If you want to take caution, I would say you should probably take your laptop with you if you'll be gone for multiple hours / going to sleep at the hotel. Otherwise, I think you'll be fine, especially if you have some of your friends/teammates around your stuff.

JaguarFiendPlease take me off the list of people who need a carpool.
We have a big SUV that's going to be starting from Indiana. We have three people so far but we'd like to get a fourth if possible since this vehicle won't be exactly light on gas. Please take a look at the route I'm about to link and if someone needs a ride that's approximately on the route add me and we'll talk.
-=MAP=-
when is that train departing? i can get gas money and a room with a bro, but otherwise i'm probably out

Also, if you're on a team in the CEVO team list, I'm taking you off of the LFT list.
edit: I just slimmed down the list, so it should be much more accurate now.

i felt the same way the first time i went to a lan, one thing i learned don't slap nice stickers on your tower because some douche bag will take them, which is the most random thing someone can take to begin with
also @fragile, what time is the venue open on thursday for us to come in and set up? probably going to be there in the afternoon

If you bought the premature-LANer option, then doors open for those people at 12:01 AM on Friday.
If you did not buy the premature-LANer option, then doors will open for everyone else at 12:01 PM on Friday.

No, the premature-LANer option is an additional option that you can buy to get in the event 12 hours earlier than the rest of the general public. It's an additional $15 on top of whatever the ticket price was at the time you purchased the ticket. If you can't remember, check your email and it should show if you purchased the premature-LANer option.

It is very possible that the CEVO matches will start later than 9, but we just set it to 9 just as a safety net if we feel we need that much time.
I also don't get your passive-aggressive comments throughout this entire thread. I didn't make this schedule, and this is what CEVO set up for the schedule. So, if you have a problem with this "well thought out schedule," then you can personally message them instead of stirring up ridiculous drama publicly. Hell, you can just message me personally instead. That idea is too rational, though.
Moreover, I honestly don't even know what I did to you for you to be such a total fucking dick to me, but fuck you. I have almost 20 people messaging me per day as I try to help them out with whatever they need help with, spending countless hours of my own time and my own money to make this possible.
Still have a problem with all of this? Don't show up.

I mean you might want to figure it out then since people are booking their flights and scheduling their Thursday nights based off of your posted times.
Also, not really sure why the hostility, it's not like my passive aggression is something new. I also haven't posted in this thread in over 4 weeks when we concluded we were doing a CEVO final double header.
Also never once did I question your dedication lol, but see you in two weeks <3

dashnerI mean you might want to figure it out then since people are booking their flights and scheduling their Thursday nights based off of your posted times.
The LAN has always opened at noon on Friday, and midnight for people who bought the early bird pack.
The only thing that was ever said about Thursday was my encouragement for players to get there that day (Thursday) as eXtv was intending to do some player interviews at our hotels and we wanted to all chill as a community thing before the LAN opened the next day.
GXL, to my knowledge, has never communicated anything about the LAN opening on Thursday beyond the midnight premature LANer package.
Schedule has CEVO TF2 starting at 9am. People booking flights and living life on Thursday night need to know if they need to be at the event by 8 am or by 11am Friday.
Also if the CEVO event doesnt start until 12pm then that should be changed on the schedule of events, and if it does start at 12 does that imply that all CEVO players are now early bird whatever.

CEVO-P players themselves (that qualify for our event) are an exception for Friday and will not require a premature lan pass to play @ 9am. The 9am start time is a must and will not be changed....until I have the rest of the CEVO-P matches played...I can't setup your schedules....cough cough but it will be nearly identical to the CSGO one located at this bracket except both Round of 4 matches will be played at the same time and LB Round 1 @ 11:30am
(yes all TF2 matches for CEVO will be bo3)

Us guys coming over from Europe still have no idea what is happening with PC's after people have told us "we'll get them". I've raised a ticket with CEVO to try and talk to someone, no reply. Looking like it'll be a four day piss up for us at the moment. Can anyone who has an idea with what is happening let us know as i'd rather not pack my peripherals if we're not going to have machines to play on. We'd really just like a Yes or No answer from someone now.

Patience and we will reply to you privately about it soon enough...but I would have no worries for your European team but peripherals are ideal and a must regardless as CEVO will not be providing those for anyone anyways

If you allocate the times as I stated, each bo3 sets aside 2.5 hours of time...double check, should be plenty of time for any bo3 in TF2 ;)
Only round not going to be covered is a Ro4 match in CEVO TF2 unless I can somehow magically find a rift in time and gain 2 additional hours in the day plus this is what is needed in order to share the PCs with the CSGO event schedule and run 3 matches at a time (both TF2 and CSGO).
I prefer not to make you guys play into 2, 3, 4am...as of right now, we are looking at a 10/11pm finish Friday with no problems

Its unfortunate there isn't more time, but this is an issue that's plagued every LAN. Every single LAN we've had in TF2 we've wanted to see more than what was played. The GXL schedule is a little tight, for both CEVO and I'm sure Fragile's schedule for the community LAN, but it's the best we can do in the circumstances.

Anyone wanna bring Dog Fish Head 90 min IPA 4 pack for me?
I will bring you the best microbrewery in Quebec in exchange.
Cant wait for this event, oh my god so many TF2 gamers.
One serious question for The Fragile :3
Regarding the seats, are gamers gonna be able to choose their seats and be with their teams? I remember seeing an old floor plan, couples months ago, is this still online?
Cheers.
EDIT : Im not LFT anymore, you can remove me from the list, i found a team with Kace & Friends.

There will be a TF2 area, but there will not be any assigned seating inside of this area.

Alright Spangler, some questions since you're super popular and have 350 steam friends and your list is full, and I've driven Nick off the deep end on Steam too many times this summer:
1. If I show up to GXL at 9am Friday with clockwork are you going to let me into the event to set up or do I have to pay 15$ to not be locked out the venue/sit in my car? What is your +1 policy for people travelling with 'early birds?'
2. Have you allocated time for the teams to check in and such at the hotels (where check ins at most hotels are somewhere between 12pm and 3pm, and two of the hotels require a decent drive) into your "we'll be ending by 10/11pm Friday (which is insane)?"
3. Are you allowing CEVO players to use the CEVO pcs for the BYOC and if yes, do you feel this is fair for the "byoc (bring YOUR OWN computer)" lan?
4. Are players going to be allowed to 'save' seats for their friends. If cyzer gets there at 12 and I wanna sit as close to him as humanly possible will he be able to save me a seat if I can't show up until 4?
5. Have you considered the fact players can't spectate CEVO until 1pm without paying extra since you're starting at 9 and us plebians can't enter til 12 meaning we probably wont be settled in our seats until 12-1.
6. On top of that last note, are you planning on pausing the cevo tournament to give the players ample time to set up their stations at 12 with the rest of the non early birds?
I don't want defensive or half assed answers, thanks. :3
