Hello tf.tv!! I introduce to you the 2015 freestyle jumping competition
http://i.imgur.com/yQr1URF.png
Its going to be kind of like freestyle skateboarding. Each player will have 2mins to impress.
-The map will be cp_process
-Soldier or demo
-rocket luancher or sticky's with regen script
-2mins
-The current prize is a winner takes all £100 (pounds will be converted into to the winners currency and sent via paypal)
-In previous TF2 competitions people seemed to disagree with judges decisions so the winner will be decided by community vote.
There are 2 routes I am thinking of taking with this: ROUTE 2 WILL BE MORE ENTERTAINING!
Anyone can send a demo/youtube clip 2mins long of them freestlyinnn. I will judge all the entrants and put the top 15/20? into the final.
Then ROUTE 1: A live final, where the jumpers have to freestyle for 2mins live on twitch.
Or route 2: They perfect there routine and send it in, where it will be uploaded to youtube.
Do you like the sounds of this?
EVERYTHING/ANYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE! Hoping to start this in early 2015.

route 2, this competition sounds good but livestreaming it could get messy with the amount of factors that go into jumping, and most players would prefer to use a local server anyway.
also why don't you just put it on like jump_trix, cp_process only has like 2-3 good trick jumps anyway.

I think #2 for sure. You're gonna get way better looking jumps that way, better for the people watching, and encourages the jumpers to create more difficult routines.

2 minutes is a long time unless you consider things like health and ammo regen, this has potential to be very interesting. I highly reccomend using trix style maps for later rounds if that is how its set up though since standard valve maps can be somewhat limiting.

Was Thinking of allowing rocket jumper/sticky jumper? If its too long still it can be changed.

Honestly a live competition doesn't sound like a good idea, jumping just isn't consistent enough to make for an interesting live event.
If you just look at things like speedshots and rampslides, whoever gets lucky with those in the 2 minutes of live gameplay is gonna look like "the better jumper"

Scoffer_EXC02 minute time limit etc.

Its not about the health as much as it is the reload / 4-5 rocket limitation for routes. If you could use 7+ rockets for some sick crossmap jumps on maps like metalworks then it might be different, but the hp isnt the issue, regen scripts would really open up oppertunities to make this interesting.

+1 regen scripts would make it a lot more interesting because then we could see a lot more jumping then just a demo reloading for 10seconds

Because regen will make it more entertaining, it will defo be allowed, could i get a link to the script?
I want to make it available to anyone at the start, hence why starting on a valve map (process) was my initial idea. Certainly as the competition progresses other maps will be incorporated.

Also I would get someone who is a good jumper from the community to watch over the demos to catch things like bhop scripts and timescale changes.

Does impulses 101 refill the clip now? I thought it didn't do that before.

It definitely does. (impulse 101)

I know the rules say rocket launcher or sticky, but is it possible to allow maybe some loose cannon tide turner combo? The ramps make tide turner really fun, same question goes towards something like base jumper

why are we funding figure skating. you guys better wear your prettiest hats and pick a good soundtrack before you go in front of the judges

would you approve if it were being done on badlands instead

2 mins might be a bit too long, probably going to end up with people just repeating the same jumps in that time.

What about how X-Games does freestyle? A 5-player 15-minute Jam Session where each participant gets 45 seconds per run, run ends when time expires or they crater/explode. Judges score each run on 50 point scale and the best two runs per player is the final score after the last cycle completes.

I really like jumping on stock maps, this sounds like a pretty cool idea. Who needs specially designed jump maps anyway. The next map should be something like badlands, cp maps are pretty good for random jumping.

Because stock maps usually aren't that big, it's either a couple of doubles, some ss and speedpogo, while on jump maps the possibilities are far greater, stock does look nice tho.
