I thought people practiced a lot to do well at LAN and beat the top teams because they were very passionate about this game, not because you want to entertain the largest crowd or make the biggest paycheck from attending. Froyotech isn't making the biggest bank either; at the end of the day it's all hobby money for everyone.
If it takes an unreasonable amount of time to the point that you're practicing TF2 like a career to beat a team like Froyotech, which is the general vibe that's being passed around in this thread, then it makes sense that most people aren't trying to beat the "super-team" because you can't financially sustain or balance that lifestyle when the game doesn't have that much money involved.
However, if that is really not the case and a large number of old Invite players no longer feel invested in the game, then maybe it's just time to allow more room for new players to step up. I feel like there's been this large pool of players in ESEA for awhile now with the potential for becoming Invite talent, but because they don't have connections or the right team to play with, a lot of them are just kept under the bus.
How many times do you see top Open or strong IM teams circulating and mixing around the same pool of players every season? It happens so much because it's significantly harder and it can take a lot of luck to be on that perfect team with everyone working on board to make Invite (like Street Hoops) than to be a player with enough potential for Invite going from team to team in high Open or IM every season.

atidereso the super-team in the nba the 2011-2014 Miami Heat killed the nba??? Or the old dynasty of the celtics was bad for the nba??? it made teams adapt and get better, and we've seen this in tf2 before already with b4nny's old team and mix^ too. bad arguement
I have never seen so much retardation in 1 singular post

Why are people even calling froyotech a super team? How can it be a super team if i'm not in it?

I don't get people complaining "X-team" is unbeatable, just like clockwork said, if you work towards it you can beat anyone putting in the right amount of time towards the right goals (reviewing demos, etc). And froyo DID lose to both mixup and us last season across CEVO/ESEA matches, and then dominated us both at LAN, even tho it was online a loss is a loss.
Will it get better? Probably not as no one at the top cares about putting in the effort anymore, I can guarantee that no one except Mad Men cares about trying 1/10 as hard as they used to in the past seasons. If teams suddenly start trying hard for this LAN, you will see MUCH different placements in the top 4 when compared to the season standings (besides froyo, they will probably win again).

Do you actually just go there so you can get money? I mean, surely you didn't put in all these hours of practice in just so you could get a check from esea.
If going to lan hurts your wallet so much why don't you just not go?
Do your teammates force you to come or something? Like, what's stopping you from just chilling at home?
If going to lan is such a terrible experience unless you win you really need to rethink your life priorities.
Everything I've seen come out of the esea lans and every tf2 lan in general really, is a bunch of people getting together and having a good time.
If it pains you so much to go and do that just fucking stay home instead of crying about it on the internet like it was just plain awful. I'm sure you guys enjoyed going.
I'm confident that if LAN and money weren't involved, it would still be a case of no one giving a shit to put in enough practice.
And nowhere did I or any other LAN player imply that going to LAN was a terrible experience. LAN is a fantastic time, but any player who makes LAN is not obligated to play the game for 40 hours a week. I also don't understand why you are so aggressive and edgy about this, but alright.

Basically this.
Froyo have stuck together for a while with the same group of core players (who are all incredibly skilled). If mix^ continued to play and eLevate had the same roster as last season, either of those teams could unquestionably be a serious threat to froyo. Unfortunately, mix^ died and eLevate had roster changes along with position changes, so they have a lot of readjusting to do. Froyo are good, and it shows. Those gorgeous gamers are talented, but the right amount of work ethic can take them out.
Will teams want to put forth the work? Probably not. Ash will be too busy practicing Melee so he can beat clockwork in Dallas. :D

iirc dodging lan gets you banned from esea now (so does dodging invite afaik f y ou make invite or get voted it in youre either forced to play, break up your team, or get banned) and stuff gets old dude. plus esea isnt a community lan its just 4 teams so if you have no real friends in high invite you wont have any fun in the slightest unless youre like in love with your team

clckwrkhow to not improve: complain that the top team is too good and do nothing in your power to download an STV demo and watch how they play.
the idea that we "hit more shots than other people" and that's why we win is not the whole truth. obviously DM plays a role in how good a team is, but lower-ranked invite teams thinking they're just as smart or innovative as we are on the fly is ridiculous. the reason mixup was even good in the first place is they were smart players who could adapt to situations, in the same way we can. listening to people from other invite teams saying we win because I run around killing everything is crnigey because lets me know they think they have huge TF2 brains when they make mistake after mistake allowing us to just start steamrolling. also half of DM in real games is situational. i'm pretty sure banny is topdamaging over every other scout in the league. i guess it's because his DM is just the best now, not mine? I dunno it's pretty easy to get better if you put your egos aside and just watch how people play. Half of my scout skill comes from watching pov demos of wltrs and enigma and knowing when I could catch players out of position.
it's really not that hard to get better at the game. not many hours are required if you put the time into scrimming to get better and deathmatching for an hour a day instead of CS for 3. an essay doesn't take long to write if you dedicate your time to writing it, but it can take a whole day if you spend half the time on reddit
i remember i46 mix saying this and everyone being very mad at them
