GetawhaleHe recently messaged me and told me about how TF2C is great now.
TF2C is great and I view it like an organized pubs with comms for semi-serious play to win gameplay
An influx of new players trying their hand at any form of 'competitive' TF2 is a good thing. Having an elitist attitude rather than a welcoming one makes you a bit of a human garbage trashcan.
I think I even asked you about your name and told you basically this before that lobby started asia?
(also lol im a total dick in that video but fuck barnblitz)

Devil's Advocate:
idk why you guys are hating on the vid so much (besides the lengthy and un-needed mediocre heavy play). The message is still a good one. He wants people who know how to play comp (even at a basic silver level) to leave open lobbies to the incredibly new players, as to not stomp them into the ground. Even though steel is bad, it's still a huge skill-gap compared to the majority of pubbers.
Skill gaps are generally bad for newcomers to competitive games if you want any retention. There's a reason that Quake is dying, because the only people who play know how to play it well. As a result, anyone new who doesn't understand Quake as well just gets stomped, even by relatively low-skill players.
All OP wants to do is make lobbies more accessible for newer players by delegating "experienced" players to hour-restricted lobbies. Newer players can play against others of similar skill, and those who just want to fuck around in lobbies can just play hour-restricted ones.
Granted, incredibly mediocre pubbies won't get much better by continuing to play other incredibly mediocre pubbies, it's still a better stepping stone than getting their teeth smashed in, and only the truly committed players (who would learn to play either way) being retained.

Wow. I have to say I am shocked and appalled. I never realised this sort of thing was going on in our community...
People actually play Highlander?!

asiaTo avoid this, add lobby/hour restrictions (ex. 30 lobbies/ 500 hours) and/or join lobbies with hour restrictions if you don't want to play with Muselk's subs.
This is a major problem if people think that the new people coming in are a simple result of Muselk's shoutout. Yes, he did influence a lot of people, but this is only a major event in a movement that has been growing in strength for a while now. I started last November as a result of a youtuber with ~50 subs, and I've noticed shoutouts from all corners, including in Valve pub servers (which are now actually better than all other non-password locked servers). Don't singly blame muselk, don't think of the new players as "Muselk Fanboys", just thank him for his huge contribution to TF2.

Join the not stacked team next time instead of being a twat. You can have more fun and teach new players at the same time

yes he really showed this by further stacking a lobby against them and changing his name to shit talk the guy who is trying to get them into competitive

GetawhaleI'm in bed still and have more to say about this, but wanted to point out that Red had Warpy, a former Invite player from years ago. He recently messaged me and told me about how TF2C is great now.
let's be honest, warpy got carried hard by the rest of his team

Video is funny - You guys stack a lobby and proceed to wreck the other team then say "this isn't fair". Don't stack the lobby in the first place.
TF2C do a balancing act of trying to cater to new players and more experienced players and create detailed guides, they can always improve their service but overall they have done a fantastic job bringing new people into the scene, but leagues fail to keep them interested so they don't transition to leagues or LANs but stay in lobbies.

RagorYou are an absolute waste of oxygen. The fact that you were the one sperm that made it truly speaks volumes, and I believe you owe your father an apology for being this much of a fuck-up.
Fucking lobbylords, man.

It would be nice if Muselk made it a point to tell his audience that the TF2 Comp scene isn't for everyone. His audience should work on basic game fundamentals and be able to almost top score in a valve pub prior to joining TF2C or any pug group IMO.
Some of these new guys do show potential and will probably make it. They take advice and they show at least a little bit of skill. On the other hand, I've seen quite a number of 50 DPM players that go 1 in 20. Yes sometimes they have 300 ping, and who knows maybe their computers only run the game at 20 FPS, but these guys will probably never make it.
You have to learn how to crawl before you can learn to walk.
I think most people are thankful for Muselks promotion of TF2 Comp, but some more resources and guidence for these very very new players would be great!

It doesn't matter if they are bad and never "make it" (if that's even a thing)
As long as they are interested in comp tf2 it helps the scene.

"Be able to top score in a valve pub" is really dependent on the time and region you play at. It's so subject to outside forces that it's useless advice.
Speaking from experience I'm NA and could probably top score an aus/NZ valve server any hour of any day of the week. But if I go to an east coast US valve server at peak times there's going to be stacks of people at my general skill level.

literally only people that never achieved something in tf2 bitch about new players "ruining" their "experience"
just stfu

I think the point of the video was to tell people to join restricted hours/lobby lobbies as to not ruin the experience for those who are trying to get into it as a game like that isn't going to make people continue playing the game if the norm is people stacking it. I don't think this was at all about "look at these noobs ruining my lobbies.

no shit, this is what his team tried to pull on us last season after we 4-0'd them
Gar: yo it seems we thought we won 5 but apparently only played 4
crit happens (‿ꜟ‿): we dont have time to reschedule, we will take the win
Gar: uh huh
Gar: I'd rather do this without admins
crit happens (‿ꜟ‿): ok then, we were going to report it as our win anyway, no need to involve admins
Gar: why do you want to be a dick to a regular scrim partner
crit happens (‿ꜟ‿): well i mean, tbh we would not be so intransigent had you not been very impolite* to us during the match
Gar: the admins will just force a 5th match
crit happens (‿ꜟ‿): i already asked blazing
crit happens (‿ꜟ‿): he said that it was our win
Gar: The NA Silver Admin and the 6v6 Head Admin said we're finishing our match
*someone called them a waste of time after they ran heavy sniper and pyro to mid and drew out the game forever
