It's objectively worse. IRC is real-time; you will never see someone asking for scrims who doesn't want to scrim. Looking through a subforum of >50 teams trying to find scrims and trying to find ones at the right skill level who are playing on that specific night would be godawful.

This. Open teams specifically, please use IRC. IRC being hard to use has become nothing more than a myth since whenever the fuck mibbit was made and then whenever atf2 came about.

Please just use IRC, especially Open. It's a very easy real-time chat which makes finding scrims significantly less tedious, and the process to get scrims much less tedious.
tl;dr - IRC = more productive, you don't have to add other people/don't get fucked if someone doesn't come on, etc.

Holy fuck why is this an issue? My team has to go to IRC so much because IM teams are unreliable and end up being no shows half the time. Just go to fucking IRC and you have a great chance of scrimming an IM team. Fuck.

So many posts say we need a looking for scrim tab on tf.tv when this whole time irc is the easiest thing in the world to use. Until recently I've used irc as my main means of finding scrims.
