I used to be on the development team working directly with everyone. Some of you may remember me as I did my fair share of posts including writing the entire FAQ from scratch which is still on the site to this very day. I always tried to be diplomatic in any situation including when people were giving harsh criticism of the site. It is a shame all of this has happened because this is the exact situations I used to shield the user-base from because I could always intervene before it got to far and let the moderators/admin team do their work.

Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances I had to cease my involvement with TF2Center (unrelated to these events) at the end of last year. It's a shame that this has all happened but what's done is done now. I don't agree with his responses nor do I condone anything that he has done in this case. Some people take criticism of their work different and unfortunately he has personal involvement in the project so he's taken it harshly.

Not all the moderators are/were bad on TF2Center. They were only doing their job to the best of their ability that was allowed by management. There is a lot of work involved in the behind the scenes of it all and some of it isn't easy to process.

It's a shame though because sites like TF2Center flourish on community support and from what I have seen (at least in AU), that support has dropped significantly because of this due to influence not only from myself, but Kenneth and other ex AU moderators who have league influence at ozfortress. I'm sure it has been the same elsewhere.

Just watched the chat. The shit that was going on there was pure gold. Gonna be the devil's advocate here. I honestly felt bad for MT there. He was basically alone against everyone there. Some things that were said, were legit criticism, but then again people were just dicks towards him. Then everyone started cherrypicking MT's words like "i don't care about this fucking community". I'm not surprised he said that. He felt like he was left alone there to deal with the situation at that moment. People should really stop witch hunting. It doesn't help the community.

I have no sympathy for either of them. It is basically a backlash to a year and a half of petty admin abuse which has spiralled into something more. I feel a lot of NA players simply haven't seen how vile those two can be. For example the worst example of abuse to a new player I have seen in my 700+ lobbies was masternoob screaming at some poor kid because his team was being rolled about a year back.

The anger isn't really achieving much, and I don't really want to be a part of it, but it isn't without cause.

So thats a lot of posts and I admit that I havent read them all, but wont the need for TF2 lobbies be eradicated with the official matchmaking? Seems like the perfect place to learn competitive TF2 format with people on your skill level. And then there will be TF2pickup.net like CS:GO has Face-it and whatever and there will be ETF2L and whatnot just as CS:GO has ESEA and whatnot (leagues I mean). There is no TF2Center in this equation. Or at least thats the way I see it.

I'm not sure what the provocateurs are trying to accomplish at this point. Harass the two founders to the point where they ask themselves "Why am I wasting time on a community project that goes out of its way to make me feel miserable?"

I sincerely doubt that either of the two admins depends on TF2C for their livelihood. I think at this point it's clear you can't you can't convince them their behaviour is wrong, but you sure can convince them to stop spending time and money on a community project that is openly hostile towards them.

If TF2C shuts down, robbing the TF2 community of the only free-access matchmaking service it currently has, will you consider that a victory? Will you be proud of it afterwards?

Trolling people who are running something in a way you don't like = worst idea of all time.

1. It makes them less receptive to you in future, and even more likely to carry on behaving in the manner with which you disagree.
2. Puts you on their level.

As someone who's been involved in several community projects (outside of tf2), essentially, the one thing you have to do is enjoy doing it if there's no financial incentive. Pissing off people who are part of a system you disagree with isn't going to help anyone. Work with them, take the high road, suggest improvements or build an alternative.

Aye - that's sort of what I was trying to get at. As "working with them" seems to be a fairly long shot, just simply creating something better is how you make an alternative to tf2c.

When y'all make Arie post something, you know you're doing wrong. Just leave the site if you don't want to use it, no point in dropping to their level, what is this pre-school?

Despite it having been said countless times above I feel the need to echo that, half-jokey stories aside, it must seriously be said that open and active harassment accomplishes absolutely nothing here, or indeed anywhere.

If you feel that the problems with TF2C are not a major issue, leave the situation alone. If you feel that they are worth fixing, the only way to do anything about it that benefits rather than harms the community is through constructive behaviour, whereas this ridiculous direct trolling of MT and MN is quite decidedly destructive.

Like them or not, I do not think either deserve to be treated like this. Even if you think they do, treating them in this manner accomplishes nothing of value to anyone; in fact, it only serves to make the situation worse.
