The two universal rules that everyone agrees with is that you don't play Heavy or Demoman with stickies in MGE without asking, but there's lots of stuff that I've heard people claim is on that level. Is there an unspoken taboo against anything else? Stickies in SOAP? Gunboats in MGE? Sniper or Pyro?
I always use stickies in MGE and SOAP. Anyone who tells you otherwise is retarded.
No one with a brain runs gunboats in MGE. I'm sure there are people who run gunboats only in scrims and whatever, but running shotty when you don't need gunboats is 100x better. So not practicing your shotgun is dumb.
Stickies in SOAP = fairy mode
brb getting a full clip after each kill...sticky launcher = easiest and highest dmg output weapon
The whole point of SOAP is to warmup/practice aim so you should only use pipes anyway.
People who use stickies in SOAP are the most annoying faggots ever.

I mostly agree with Kalkin, but when people put sticky traps or just carpet the floor with stickies it's annoying as fuck. Fog's old DM servers use to only allow 2 stickies out at one time, I thought that was pretty cool.
Nothing against stickies in SOAP, but I can't understand those who'd trap lunch boxes in DM.
Pyro, spy, heavy, and medic have no reason to be a part of mge. Stickies are fine demo v demo imo.
I think stickies speed up the pace of MGE when used aggressively. If a demo just sets traps and hides somewhere in the map, then that can ruin a game. And something that grinds my gears in MGE is when a person is 4 deaths in and then ragequits/complains or when someone says "brb real quick" then doesn't come back for a while.

I've got nothing against demos using stickies in MGE. People seem to think that the second you pull out your sticky launcher you're automatically going to set up a trap and just wait for the enemy to walk into it. The reality is that when it's a 1v1 fight against a soldier or scout you won't have time to set up traps, and that's when sticky aim, which is an integral part of demo, comes into play. Using pipes only is the equivalent of shotty only or pistol only; you're never supposed to neglect your primary during a 1v1 battle, which MGE simulates.
I love mgeing against pharaoh when he plays demos and uses stickies.
personally i practice my sticky launcher dm by using my grenade launcher as i find this to be the most efficient method
I have no problem with demos using stickies in mge HOWEVER in pub mge servers and against people you don't know, I feel that it doesn't hurt at all to ask "Do you mind if I play demo?" Most people will know what you mean and won't have a problem with it. The reason people ask is because no one really wants to play against a demo who backs up into a choke and stickies himself out, esp on scout v demo. I understand that you need practice and I'm fine with that but the general unspoken "etiquette" if you really wanna put it that way imo is that you play it with people you know and you ask against strangers who might not feel like playing it. You can also opt to not ask but if they !remove it shouldn't be unexpected and you can't really fault them for it. Just my opinion though, I could be wrong.
I think its okay to play sniper if the server is pretty full but if its 3v3 then don't do it unless you're really good because then its gonna be really gay for your teammates.
annoying:
when people don't move for a few seconds after every two or three deaths.
people who complain about getting shot before they can rocket jump. that's what height advantage is all about.

I got pretty frustrated when I was sitting in granary mid as scout and a demo joined, jumped on crates, and spammed stickies down on me. I switched to soldier after a couple lives and he got upset and left.
Annoying: people in MGE in general. I find the mod itself fun sometimes but people are so whiny in MGE and take it so seriously that it makes the experience somewhat painful. DM is more enjoyable pretty much 100% of the time.

I don't complain about it but it's definitely annoying in some situations (say like if I were playing someone who'd be better than me by a lot even without spamming). I also try to not to do that since it's better to just practice airshots IMO.

In DM, stickies are fine, but it's really annoying when demomen just trap up themselves or common areas for other players to be. I'd like to see a plugin or something that limits demos to just 2 stickies per clip.
I guess it's not THAT annoying when people run gunboats, but if the point of DM/MGE is to get better at DMing, then why would you use them? Just use shotty, and go to a jump server to practice rocket jumping. It's kinda stupid to run gunboats in a pure DM setting if you ask me.
The only other annoying thing is snipers in DM. To just take pot shots at people across the map is kind of a waste of both of your times, because (at the moment I'm picturing process) you force people to take body/headshots from across the map that they can do nothing about, unless they bomb in on the sniper (which is often followed up by an immediate rocket to the face or a meatshot in the back). It forces other players to either constantly lose fights cause they get hit by the sniper, or else waste their health/time bombing a sniper (which is not what I want to be practicing in a DM server). Go snipe in a pub or a pug or a sniper server.
Oh yeah, and players that run away from fights in order to pick up health kits. If you have enough health to keep trying to fight someone, do it. It's a DM server, there's no respawn time and K:D doesn't really matter, stop being a pussy and just try to hit your shots, not run away.
edit: apparently Fog's DM servers limit a demo to 2 stickies per clip (I had not read all the posts)

I use gunboats in mge and dm because there's no real advantage or disadvantage because i have shit aim.

How do you think you improve your aim?
Hint: It's not by not using the shotgun.
