shittalk should be funny or boost morale, you shouldn't shittalk to make another human being feel bad about themselves

there are people who probably deserve it, but you can still be the bigger person and act like a reasonable adult instead of regressing into a middle school bully

but nobody is the bigger person 100% of the time, and thats absolutely understandable

I recently decided to start shittalking in scrims and its made things alot more interesting

I'd rather call it trash talking because that's what it's called everywhere outside of games. In basketball trash talking used to be a big part of the game, and I think its healthy. Trash talking is great for spectators, it's entertaining from an outside point of view. Nobody wants to see two teams play against each other and end every game with a good sportsmanlike "gg". Especially if it was a roll like 5-0. Because that's not a gg.

Trash talking = character. Doublelift is a prime example of this. Nobody here may follow league of legends, but he basically trash talked anyone and everyone and it made it extremely enjoyable to watch.

There is a HUGE difference between trash talking just to make yourself feel good and the other person feel bad, and trash talking light heartedly, not crossing any personal lines and doing it for the purpose of amusement. This is just from personal experience in why I might trash talk, although I only do it because it makes myself and my teammates laugh. It's great for morale, and entertaining spectators. Just don't let your emotions dictate what you say.

The thing I love about Connor trash talking while ringing for us is he shit talks other IM teams and wonders why no team wants to try him out.

Trash talk is just competitive nature, it's found in almost every single source of competition and there isn't anything wrong with it, even "personal attacks." Trash talk comes in many forms, but you can't pick and choose what offends you or else that defeats the purpose, if you're gonna get mad about personal trash talk fully knowingly it's just trash talk, than you should be offended by any form of trash talk and you're prolly a pussy.

I've played rugby my whole life, even at a very high competitive and physical level and I have had he nastiest shit said to me by opposing players (even my own teammates sometimes) on a daily basis, sometimes even leading too getting smacked in the mouth or me doing the same the them, but the MOMENT you step off the field and competition is done, that dude walks up to me and says "nice fucking punch, here have a pint on me" no bitching and whining about how much of a cunt I was, that's all left on the field.

And that's how trash talk should be.

I remember back on back in Platinum HL S14 KND, I was getting shittalked a lot by other plat players. I even remember when we got into grand finals someone posted on the forums saying "please don't let nursey win plat." It felt pretty great when we won that night.

It really depends on the person you're trash talking, is he notorious for being an asshat? go ahead and trash talk him if you're destroying him, I don't care. But like never go too personal with the person, I'm pretty sure everyone should know that already.

I personally never trash talk, like even if the other player is trash talking me. I find that there's honestly no point having people remember you as that dude who shit talk that low open team who just came to ESEA.

Light shittalking is alright unless you're a shitty person who thinks that using slurs somehow counts as shittalking and that it's a Really Funny Thing to Do when all it does is make you come off as an insufferable scumbag

Shit talking creates a really toxic environment.

Obviously bantering with friends is fine. However when you for example roll a team of people you don't even know and then call them fucking trash, that's just not cool.
