To be honest im a little bit salty but hey, they played well and deserve the title.

TF2's first two-time world champions and it's consecutive. Absolutely mind-boggling.
Rooting for nR though I was, Froyo played legendary TF2 all tournament long, both as a team and as individuals. b4nny's strength and versatility as a player remain absolutely unparalleled, Ash's transition to scout was smoother than anyone could've expected of him, blaze remains one of the most consistent, balanced and at times explosive roamers the game has ever seen, duwatna's still showing the world that even post-nerf a talented enough demo can wrap a whole team around their finger, shade is still the closest a medic has ever been to immortal and clockwork is, indeed, still clockwork and doing a damn good job of showing why that's all I need to say about him.
But even still, serious credit must be given elsewhere in those finals too. Between knocking Froyo to the lower bracket, taking a map in the finals, starting strong on Viaduct which Froyo are the undisputed gods of and even holding out 0-0 for so long at the start of Snake, nerdRage made Froyo look the most vulnerable they have looked in quite a while, with some of the most insane individual performances of the whole tournament. Individual talent, versatility, synergy, they're a team that has all the right pieces and more. They definitely showed the potential that, moving forward and sticking together if that's what they choose to do, they could very well still have their era.
The real MVPs, though? Production! God damn, what an event from that standpoint; everything from fantastic casting to uberchain's incredible SFM to tsc's inexplicable ability to grow an extra pair of arms and type at 3000 words per minute when TF2 is involved which I might perhaps envy a little bit.
Looking forward to the future of this game, both near and distant. Looking forward to matchmaking, coming seasons, new teams, changed teams, rises and falls, "spontaneous" KnOxXx returns, the whole nine yards and whatever else might come with it.
So, about that i58... c u @?

A few interesting points:
TF2 now has one two-time world champion team but, due to the ash/lansky situation, only five two-time world champion players.
b4nny is now a two-time world champion on two different classes, neither of which are his traditional role of Demoman. He has made intercontinental i-Series grand finals on THREE different classes.
Unless I'm missing anyone, there are only three players that have made top 3 at all four of the intercontinental i-Series LANs so far; b4nny, shade and KnOxXx. Nobody has made top 2 at all four.
Froyotech at i55 are the first team at an intercontinental i-Series to have won the Grand Finals from the lower bracket; Mixup, Epsilon and last year's 4G all won from the upper.
Froyotech have lost one Bo3 across two intercontinental LANs.
Six non-Froyotech players have reached the Grand Finals more than once - Zebbosai, ryb, Tek, KnOxXx, basH and Mike. Of these, all have made it twice each. (Zebbo and ryb with TCM and nR, Tek with Epsilon and nR, KnOxXx, basH and Mike with Epsilon both times)
And, lastly: there were only three returning team names from i52 at i55, none of which have kept their full 6-man roster from the previous year. These are Froyotech, keeping 5 players, Danger Dogs who have kept 2 and Reason Gaming, who have kept none.
(Please do correct me if I'm wrong on any of these, I've done my best to check)

People always fail to bring up that FROYO are the ones traveling half way around the world to showup and play at a LAN with a completely different timezone. It's definitely a lot harder for them to play and compete on a wim like that as opposed to the euro teams. They still managed to win, again. Very impressive. Congrats!
Anyone know what the prize was for 1st place?

Now to see who leaves EU tf2 and what new teams are formed. Hopefully this time it won't be so half arsed.

We don't need new teams to form to beat Froyo. We need old teams to stay together and keep playing.

Froyo lost their long time pocket soldier prior to this tournament. Imagine how much stronger they'd have been with lansky. I don't think anyone "half arsed" it ether, a few teams just struggled to field their normal lineups because of the traveling/time requirements. Froyo included. Everytime USA wins at insomnia you get so many posts saying the euros half assed it, didn't scrim, didn't have their heads in it, didn't stay together long enough, etc. That was some HIGH level TF2. The highest you can possibly see. All teams put in their best with what they had to work with. It was super competitive and a great watch. Definitely a success in my opinion. Leave it at that.

b4nny had an incredible performance this lan and ash played amazingly throughout the tournament, single-handedly winning a few key rounds. i think they were better off with this lineup; b4nny's pocketing is unmatched and really brought the team together.

Well they won so nobody can complain. Ash was off classing basically, as was banny. You (lansky) were in sync with the team for so long which is almost irreplaceable. It was really obvious during ESEA lan. Just felt the need to say that since people were saying they won only because euro "half arsed" it. If froyo had the same 6 from last year I believe it would've been much more of a land slide victory. Ash and banny did play amazing though considering they formed this lineup weeks prior just for this tournament. Bannys DM can be matched but certainly not his in game leadership and his ability to coordinate. He's invaluable to his team no matter what his damage stats may say. To win with 2 guys basically off classing is insane. Not bad for 15k! Congrats again!!

VanguardDLKFroyotech have lost one Bo3 across two intercontinental LANs.
I got curious and did some homework on Froyotech's (map) losses / record.
ESEA Regular Season: 60-4
- 2 maps in S17: both to eLevate.
- 2 maps in S19: to Ascent. (*Includes the forfeit to Hawaii Beach Vacation.)
ESEA LAN / Playoffs: 26-5 (13-1 series) (Includes the "BO3" against Five Dollar Club)
- 2 maps in S16: both to Classic Mixup.
- 3 maps in S19 playoffs: 1 to Street Hoops, the others to Ascent.
iSeries LAN: 27-6-1 (9-2-1 in groups, 17-3 series)
- 2 maps at i52: both during group stages, against Immunity and Epsilon.
- 4 maps at i55: one to Reason, rest to nerdRage. Bonus: they tied against TLR)
CEVO-P S5 LAN: 6-0 (3-0 series) (I'm not sure on this so I just looked to comp.tf)
TFTV Twitch Invitational: ?-2: both to Classic Mixup. (I couldn't quite find brackets, and also there were group stages?)
That's some record of like ~119-17.

I agree that he had solid pocketting, but I don't believe ash is as effective as b4nny was on scout.
While there aren't really a lot of good options, I still don't believe this is optimal froyo.

Xattuu its kind of like being at work during the Superbowl. You just have to keep headphones in your ears and have your friends/family not talk to you until you watch the game. :/ Cant look at those sports websites until you watch the game. Just unfortunately how it goes.
Congrats to 4g to their 2nd world championship. Well done and well played.

how hard is it to put "and your i55 champions are.." in your title instead of outright spoiling it? ESEA grand finals were spoiled for me and i never watched it because it's way more exciting when you don't know who's going to win.

Just finished watching the vod of the grand finals, what an outstanding tournament. Just out of curiosity, does anybody happen to know how many people were watching the grand finals at its peak?

Spoilers are regrettable, but this is the hub of all things comp tf2: the 1 place you should be avoiding after the scenes biggest LAN. I can sympathize with trying to remain spoiler free but I wouldn't expect to go to mlb.com after the World Series and not expect to see who won it plastered all over the site. Next time waiting for the vod would be the best move.
