GOTY, took the place as #1 game in my mind
go get it for $10, incredibly well written with great characters, an interesting story, amazing music, and a very memorable message.

ok metacritic is saying hl2 is the best pc game of all time take it with a grain of salt

this is just b/c the magic of the game comes from you going into it on your own, nobody backseat-gaming or anything. add this to the fact that the sheer quirkiness of the game beyond "it's kinda like earthbound" (which doesn't even cover most of it), and that you might end up overhyping this to yourself since you want nothing spoiled, and the game itself is kinda fragile to sell to others, but still beautiful in the right scenario.

it's an RPG wherein you don't have to kill anyone, the actual core gameplay is actually more dodging similar to top-down shooters than RPG, and the writing is incredible in that it can switch between ridiculous jokes and stone-faced seriousness within seconds and you wouldn't notice. if I were to recommend it, I'd say not to assume much beyond this

Undertale is a game that tries to reach out to the player for an emotional response towards his/her actions and consequences. The game is as fulfilling as you make it out to be. Just play it with an open mind and heart and it becomes very easy to have a good time.

Btw to anyone interested in the game, I'd suggest NOT watching any let's plays of it. It's definitely something you have to experience for yourself.

I played this game, made it through to the neutral ending. Maybe it's because I was really tired when I started it, but I didn't feel a huge emotional impact. It just became so much easier to kill people than to go through the effort and spare them.

I've played To the Moon, A Bird Story, and Valiant Hearts, and I loved those games. Maybe it's the fact that in comparison to those, Undertale isn't linear. But overall, it just didn't feel like my kind of game, so I didn't enjoy it to the full extent many others have.
