Cause it's a dumb rule. You shouldn't get banned on TF2Center for mentioning TF2Stadium and vice versa. Yes, they're competing services, but there's no reason for this. It'd be like getting banned on YouTube for mentioning Twitch or banned in Overwatch for mentioning TF2.

People in both communities know that other communities exist. You should be allowed to have discussions and the freedom of speech to discuss topics that you want to discuss. As long as you're not harassing other viewers, it should be allowed.

In fact, by banning people from mentioning TF2Stadium, you actually drive traffic away from your website because your website is no longer a viable platform for discussion.

The mature way to handle this would be to temporarily mute the guy in the chat for a period of a few hours/a day, if you wish to follow the policy of "don't advertise other competing sites."

I don't agree with the extent of the punishment but I do agree that, I mean, first of all, you don't have free speech on a private website, and the owner of a website has the right to not allow advertisements for competitors on his website.

Any website that has any chat/forum/communication service that penalizes anybody in any way for submitting anything that does not bother, offend or disturb users or prevents the site's service from being carried out is shit.

What I want to know is what the ban log means about "trolling mods main chat". Was it just the complaint about tf2center and mentioning stadium, or were they already trying to shitpost?

They have a right to ban people for whatever they want, but Slin was right. People aren't going to trust a site that hands out bans or mutes just for casually mentioning another site.

Unfortunately the trustworthiness of a site or service is not built on the quality of its admins. ESEA hands out bans like this frequently and for dumber reasons, yet the community has continued to trust them for 15+ paid seasons.

This is just a case of power-hungry admins who think they are cool by berating and condescending others. Let their power die with their site and move on. >:-)

I talked to a tf2c admin and he said that the allegedly, the ban wasn't for mentioning tf2center, it was the last straw after multiple warnings for "trolling admins in chat".

I guess it's up to you guys to decide if this is true or bs
