I don't see the problem, you advertised another service with 3 messages in a row and not just that, the guy says you continued to troll so chat ban well deserved.

I mean to be fair i got a 2 week chat ban for advertising newbie mixes in chat... newbie mixes of all things got me a ban. so yeah possibly deserved but the mods are also 15 year old nazis

Is there some sort of chat log where you can find where he actually 'trolled'? Is there even any actual 'trolling'? Or do you not know what trolling is. That doesn't look very troll-ey to me. That was basically me when I found out TF2Stadium was censored on TF2Center. Why you gotta be like North Korea?

So if anyone ever mentions Youtube, Google, tf2outpost, teamfortress.tv, or reddit does this count as advertising since the name of an actual site is being mentioned? Even if TF2C is their site and they have the right to chat ban, they should only be chat banning real trolls or spammers if anything, not open discussion just cause TF2 Stadium is a rising competition.

Interesting. If you try logging into TF2Center with TF2Stadium.com or TF2Pickup.net, or anything similar, it won't let you login. I mentioned this in the TF2Stadium Group>Discussions and I am not the only person to have this happen to me.

I think honestly, Tf2c is afraid of losing all their players/business because of a new website created out of pure drama from their staff.

I mean, I understand where TF2C is coming from as far as dealing with their competition, but their execution is fucking terrible. The last thing you want to do is directly divide the player base. We're literally all here to play video games. It doesn't matter where we play them as long as there's a game for us to play. The issue with TF2C, however, is the cesspool of shit admins that run it. I mean, when you're as popular as TF2 Lobby/Center and you have no competition, you can do what you want because who gives a shit when no one has another place to call home? The sad part is that TF2C could easily fair well with TF2 Stadium as competition if it got rid of its idiotic and childish admins and tried working as a competitor, yet whoever is ultimately in charge seems to be okay with who they have employed and ultimately is okay with digging a deeper hole.

This is all assuming TF2S goes anywhere.

Hey here's an idea TF2C. Instead of trying to stop people talking about competing services, why don't you go ahead and provide a better service to keep your playerbase? If you don't, everyone is just going to jump ship once those services come out and then your site is dead.

Their service isn't bad. The TF2C website overall is pretty good, it's just let down by the fact the administration/developer team consists of people who are socially inept and can't communicate with the playerbase at all.

You say one bad thing in their chat and they take it as a personal attack, either due to some language barrier (which often results in them not understanding irony/sarcasm it seems), or because the power that comes with their admin rights has gone straight to their head.

If you can't tolerate someone saying 'competing service X looks pretty interesting', you're better off just staying out of public relations completely.

In my eyes the admins should be part of providing good service. If they can't be trusted to keep the legitimate players in and the trolls out, the lobbies are going to suffer and just be awful all round. That's my experience with TF2C anyway, I rarely use it anymore.

TF2C and most of they staff are shit incompetent admins/moderators and etc. They know, when Stadium comes out all of TF2C players will move to Stadium. They just scared.

Also this is like the prime example of the streisand effect. The TF2Center admins are trying to keep focus off of TF2Stadium but this fiasco actually brings attention towards it.

If you website was truly the better one you'd have nothing to fear.

I think that part of the problem is that TF2C admins ban people without any warning, so you don't really expect to be banned. Normally in forums or such, people are warned with something like "If you continue doing ___, then we'll have to ban you." That just isn't there in TF2C. It's just zero to a full 1Y chat ban.

They should also give different sentences based on the amount of time you've done something wrong.

That's how we actually set up the entire banning system. Give a minor verbal warning (or a really light punishment for a few hours/day) to warn the person. repeat offenders should be punished a bit harder incrementally.

And most of all, use the public forums to show how the moderators or even admins got to that conclusion.

That kind of died down when the founder kept banning people without a ban reason.

I'm Octicimation, and really what I got banned for was an admin turning into a 6 year old. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't log in on my main so I asked him if he could help me on my alt. Instead of helping me he insisted I fucked off to the forums to wait several hours for a response. Then when i asked him why the only thing his brain could muster was "Look at this kid's ban history, this makes him wrong!"
