Shadowburn is one of the best DM soldiers and he plays with a 60hz monitor but there was definitely a reason people wanted to see him on 120hz at i55.

The more information your eyes are fed, the less concentration and effort required to perform. Having less doesn't make you inept, nor does having more inherently make you a better player.

I've played on 60hz for the first half of my career, switched to 120hz and played on it until it died. I moved back to 60hz, and honestly 60hz on Vsync did not feel any different to me. It depends on the person though, I never felt like I could play scout until I was able to track the person clearly. Doesn't mean it's impossible, just means you have to try it.

Will it make you better? Not necceseraly
Will it look better? Definatelly. Trying high refresh makes movement feel more "real" and very smooth to the eye.

It's kinda easier to track but nothing major, imo the biggest difference is perceived not when you go from 60hz to 120hz, but when you go BACK from 120hz to 60hz - to me it became unplayable, so keep in mind that once you go 120hz you never go back :P

idk about sniper but afaik there isn't an invite scout who doesn't have 120hz+.

low fps is a bigger disadvantage but 60hz is a pretty big disadvantage as you move up. I remember ppl giving dummy shit when he played scout for froyo but he was literally the only 60hz scout in invite.

For me it only matters on scout/sniper, every other class you can play just the same. RR also plays on 60hz and he's a god at projectile classes,

It won't make you good if you are shit but it certainly helps. My old 120hz went out on me and i had to use my backup 60hz for a month while i waited for the money to get a new one. It was so bad it made me sick to play on.

Honestly, people have got to STOP saying that. saying that you can only be good on 120hz is just as dumb as saying 120hz is no better than 60hz because there's someone good who plays on 60hz

i think the general consensus is that if you're bad, it won't make you instantly good, because it won't aim for you(duh), but it helps with tracking and aim overall, so it definitely improves someone's dm, if he already knows how to play. if it improves a lot or a little will depend on the person...

It's a luxury. You could play prem on a 4:3 monitor with 30 fps if you tried hard enough. Fortunately, most of us don't live in extreme poverty and saving up for a 120hz monitor isn't gonna break the budget.

It's the most expensive non-rig related article you can invest in, and I'd choose it over the best mouse/keyboard available any day.

On the whole 'going back from 120hz' deal. Of course getting used to something smoother is gonna make anything inferior a horrible experience, but if you were forced to play 60fps 60hz again, you'd be used to it within a day.

Nah that's simply not true. People have had to play at lans with that setup and you don't just "get used to it", it's actively worse.

#23 Given that he/some of them played at LAN on 144hz and played the same, no it doesnt matter because you are already used to a certain refresh rate. I haven't seen yet someone go to LAN and suddenly become amazing at the game because they went on a higher refresh rate instantly. The only people who think refresh rate is correlated to skill level are usually the same people who make "whats clockworks dpi/360" threads, when it actually doesn't matter what setup you have as long as its decent to play the game on.

You don't necessarily 'see' the extra Hz actively, you just get this 'wow everything is so smooth' feeling.
Having said that, More Hz mainly works for classes that look around themselves fast; the additional Hz reduces blurring so lets say you quickly swipe from checking left to right a scout pops up at the left edge of your vision, the image is still clear enough for you actually see this scout whereas 60Hz might be too blurry.

I've mainly started noticing this in when playing CSGO with friends, sometimes when they looked around I could see the enemy clearly where they claimed there was nothing.

TL;DR: Feels smoother, actual improvement most likely negligible and/or a placebo type effect.
