crwFor TF2 only should I go with 4 core CPU (e.g. Athlon 860k) or a 2 core with better single core performance (e.g. g3258)?
Buying a dual-core for gaming isn't a good idea since like 2010 and might cause wierd problems in some games like BF3
tbh the way things are going i'd recommend an AMD 6 or 8 core CPU just so that you dont have to upgrade for some time
but yeah TF2 can run on a dual core processor perfectly fine

Why would you use mid level pc config on that pc?
because the high level fps was even worse.

Calling bullshit, there was definitely something else wrong before.
well i also reinstalled windows and upgraded all my computer parts that probably helped too.

Just did a couple of tests post update got 220 fps on dxlevel 81, got 183 on dxlevel 90. No real change to my fps though since I last did a benchmark a week or so ago.

felt like checking dxlevel differences post-update for all the DX9's (since that's going to be mandatory once matchmaking is out, r.i.p.)

Assuming you buy a suitable GPU, installation of that is extremely easy - just put it in the PCI-E slot :D
That CPU shouldn't be too hard to OC, either. I would only really recommend that if you know what you're doing, so consult some people first.

Autoexec and fps.cfg Basicly made by Schocky and some tiny small changes by me.
Additional Things: ill use that mod or whatever u wanna call it to let dissapear the bulletholes in walls and iam using this wierd particle effect to let dissapear the big useless explosions
And to be Fair i stopped running every useless Process (for example google chrome) and only run Steam TF2 and MSI Intel Extreme Tuning Utility

I finally did some bare minimum testing regarding speed vs timings.
In other news I still hate manually adjusting DRAM timings.
speed timings latency fps
1333MHz CL9 ~13.5ms 222,53
1333MHz CL7 ~10.5ms 229,29 +3,04%
2400MHz CL12 ~10ms 245,66 +7,14% +10,39%
For reference:
typical DDR3, 1600MHz CL9: 11,25ms
typical DDR4, 2400MHz CL15: 12,5ms
In other words Skylake is definitely the way to go.
Pushing an i3-6100 to 4.5GHz (praise the non-K overclocking, I called it), should be far better than an i5-4590 (about the same price) and about on par with an overclocked i5-4690K (about 100$ more expensive unless you drop the Z mobo).
