TFTV's peripheral recommendations

So I came up with this idea that since a lot people here recommend similar peripherals/monitors/hardware in lots of ask threads, I wanted to make a "TFTV Recommendations" page soon where I show what we recommend and make so when people come to ask, they can look at it and also ask question on it as well. It will be fully formatted and so forth.

First of though I want to ask you guys what kind of hardware you recommend a lot. That includes the following:

  • Mice
  • Mousepads
  • Keyboards
  • Headphones
  • Headsets
  • Earbids
  • Microphones
  • Monitors

You don't have to list all of them but you can list as many as you like

Pretty sure almost everyone's gonna say the same kinda thing but:
Any Zowie mouse. My EC1 Evo is the best I've ever tried.
Zowie Celeritas is a solid keyboard.
Headphones are prolly personal preference, but just stuff which isn't cheap and are made by actual companies.
Mics, basically the same as headphones.
Not 60 hz monitor.

Mice: Zowie for simple functionality, Logitech for macro support.
Mousepad: QCK or QCK+, PureTrak Talent/Stealth are all good options.
Keyboard: QuickFire Rapid is super cheap and solid, Ducky and Leopold are a bit more expensive but are also incredibly solid and have 60% support if you're looking for that.
Headphones: Headsets are dumb, and you're a sucker for buying one (myself included). Sennheiser and AudioTechnica are good brands.
Microphone: Zalman Clip-On/Mod-Mic.
Monitor: ASUS 144Hz or any BenQ capable of 120+Hz.

I mean tf tv likes to recommend products purely on quality and not gimmick shit. Because companies in the esport business like to trick 8 year olds thier their 177777 dpi ultra mega red lazer is somehow gonna help their game tf tv likes to teach people on the real quality values of equipemnt, its not really a brand thing just more of a "here is what you should look for"
so here is my list of not producs but things that REALLY matter in yoru equipment

Mice (sensor must be optical or have no inbuilt acceleration like many laser sensors have) (quality of buttons)(quality of coating and quality of mousewheel steps)
Mousepads (just make sure they are big and one color, preferably black so the sensor doesn't fuck up when you go from yellow to red to green)
Keyboards (the smaller the better because it lets you have your hands closer to each other for a more ergonic feel) (poker keyboards are seen as best by some) (mechanical keyboards don't make you better also)
Headsets/Headphones (generally the meta here is that headset audio quality sucks so much ass just get headphones and mic preferably a mod mic)
Microphones no idea why but everybody has the blue snowball
Monitors get 144hz just make sure input lag is not shit also asus<benQ for many idk why also ezio monitors suck and 240hz is not worth.

but if you do want some brands.......

anything by zowie
most things by logitech
some things by steelseries
razer deathadder and razer abyssus

hyperx cloud only good headset

Honestly, i would say anything you feel comfortable with. I have the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth 2014, and i have to say it's an okay keyboard but the way the space bar works is not fast as i would like it to be and yes having 144hz monitors might be helpful or better i guess, i would say any monitor would work (my brother plays on a monitor from like 2009, res 1280:720) some people don't have $200+ to spend on monitors or other peripherals. but if you have the money why not.

I think the corepad mousepads/deskpads are heavily underrated, if you are a low sens player who finds himself running out of mousepad I would heavily recommend to check them out
The ASUS 144hz monitor is good

I've owned a couple of these pcgamingrace pads, they are quite good for the price. I recently got the 3XL version and ended up cutting it in half to make two 600x600mm pads (pic).

Logitech g100s has done me wonders for a light small mouse

The Nova Gaming Master mousepad is rare but for a hard pad it works really well

I use sennheiser HD 380 pros for headphones and a focusrite scarlet 18i8 for my AD/DA and amp

Personally I'd avoid any condenser mics for just a mumble/comming microphone as they pick up a lot of room noise, and especially if you play in a kinda loud environment it can be really annoying to listen to. If you want a mic that uses XLR, just get a $40 dynamic cardiod and be done with it.

Keyboards- Logitech K120 is good for a cheap non mechanical keyboard
Mice- Logitech G400, G400s MX518 were all really solid mice but they're all discontinued and logitech now makes mice that look like they're designed for people with hooves or something- Still using a g400s, don't know what to say in that regard.
For headphones Sony MDR-V6 are a solid relatively cheap headphone choice.

RainofLightMaxi-Mice - Micethat spreadsheet is so outdated don't use that

you could always use this

http://www.test-gear.pl/sensor/

i'm pretty sure all the sensor names colored blue are considered to be the best sensors on the market. also comes w/ dimensions, weight, and # of buttons

i have no idea how accurate this is though

nobelharvardsDid you restitch along the edge the pad was cut along?

Or are you just being extra careful when using it and hoping you will never stress it hard enough to cause the layers to peel apart?

How strong does the non stitched edge feel for long term wear?

I just cut it with a sharp flat blade and then used a lighter on the edge to singe off any stray strands and fuse the rubber to the cloth a little. I've only had it for a week and its been fine so far. I face the cut side furthest away from me so only the mouse cable touches it. Maybe it will turn to shit in a few months who knows!

mice: go for a zowie unless you have a reason not to. if you have a reason not to (say you want pretty lights or something): mionix castor or razer deathadder 2013/chroma for generalist shape, steelseries rival for large hands and palm grip, logitech g100s for low budget. logitech g303 has great clicks and an impressive sensor but the shape is so polarising that I really would not recommend it to anyone unless they have tried it out irl or they are unsatisfied with everything else.

mousepads: any cheap large cloth gaming pad is good (corsair mm200, steelseries qck, pcgamingrace pads, xtrac ripper, goliathus speed are some examples). usually if there is a thicker option it is worth buying (more consistent on different desks and much longer lifetime). in my experience it is better to buy three consecutive cheaper mousepads than to use one fancy one well beyond the glide wears out, but the zowie g-sr is said to be great.

keyboards: comfort is paramount as long as it works consistently. kbc poker 2 and cm storm quickfire rapid are well recommended mechs, but if you're comfortable using a decent membrane keyboard then it shouldn't hinder you.

headphones: avoid bose and beats generally as they each have some good but many bad and overpriced products. beyerdynamic dt770s are great for gaming and for listening at an entry-level audiophile price point. sennheiser are a go-to brand for music but many of their cans lack a big soundstage for gaming (still sufficient tho).

mic: blue snowball or modmic for quality, zalman clip on for budget. pretty much no reason to get anything else for gaming.
