if you type tf_dingaling_last you can change the effect through the console, but there is no way to turn it off that i can see.

last hit sound is a nice touch, new crossbow sound isn't so bad either. but with matchmaking coming up, am i the only one who thinks they should really just be focusing on performance updates and integrating and encouraging competitive configurations into default, accessible options? most casuals don't even know configs exists, and, although i have no faith in the success of matchmaking, it should probably be a priority to make the matchmaking experience for newcomers the best possible. it would be a pretty cringe scenario if they just throw matchmaking out there without properly guiding those people on the unfamiliar scenario and the modifications you have to make, both in the game as well in your playstyle, to play competitive tf2

9v9's been in the ladder dropdown menu just as long as the 6v6 one has, even since some of the earliest iterations of the competitive matchmaking menu, which is something I don't think a lot of people realize. That being said, I'm pretty sure it's been stated that they're focusing on 6s initially to get things going and get some feedback about the system, etc., then potentially expand out from there.

I just extracted the default "cg_killbeep" sound from Quake Live. Your killsound is unfortunately affected by the dingaling pitches so you have to set it to 100 for both (tf_dingaling_pitch_override 100) for it to be perfect but here you go if you want it:
