there's more maps that people would want to ban than people would want to play rofl
why are there two different versions of snakewater anyways?

Rules
The game mode is 6 versus 6, that means 6 players per team.
Double elimination.
Finals will be best 2 out of 3
There is a limit of one per class on Demoman, Engineer, Heavy, Medic, Pyro and Sniper.
All the other classes (Scout, Soldier and Spy) are limited to 2.
All disconnects/hardware/server issues are at the discretion of the admin.

Server Configs:
Criticals
Random crits are disabled.
All non-random crits still function - for example, headshots from a Sniper Rifle will still deal critical damage. Backstabs do not critical hit, but still deal 200% of the targets current health.
Damage Spread
Damage spread is disabled.
This means that damage randomization is removed, but damage ramp-up and falloff based on distance still occurs.
Weapon Spread
Pellet spread with tf_use_fixedweaponspreads 1.
Fixed weapon spread is enabled.
This means that pellet-style weapons (Shotgun, Scattergun, Force A Nature, Shortstop) fire pellets in a nonrandom pattern. The pattern is composed of 9 hitscan paths spaced like a 3x3 grid, with one extra pellet going down the center (or, for the Force A Nature, two extra going down the center and one extra going down the middle-right path).

has this only just been announced? literally less than 2 weeks away
Even though there isn't much time to organize teams and the rules/maps are outdated, I'd hate to miss a potential lan right next to where I live. If anyone else wants to see if they can make this work HMU, but if no one else wants to bother then it is what it is.
Fastlane, Foundry, Freight, and Obscure in the map pool but no Sunshine? :(
What's wrong with Sunshine?

Probably just included most official CP maps for some reason.

Sent an email, they've hooked me up with some of the guys running byoc events at Austin so we'll see what they have planned and if there's potential for anything to happen.
Who here has byoc tickets to Austin though? I doubt it's very many from tf2 right?

The BYOC tickets for DreamHack Austin are wayyy sold out as far as I can see.
The only way a tournament will get running is through people who already bought them months ago and happen to be interested in TF2.

At least they didn't use TF2 beta pictures

We've summarised all the released info on our comp.tf page: http://comp.tf/wiki/DreamHack_Austin_2016
mfw I have college things due the day of the event ;__;
I would have loved to go knowing that there would be a tf2 event a few hours away from where I live, but I feel like more advertising would and possibly could have certainly made this a much bigger event. I even feel like using the same system that was used for dreamhack in europe through the razer tournaments would have made this more likely to be a major LAN rather than just a "this would have sounded nice"

I mean it's really upsetting that something like this happens. Was there any marketing effort done at all? We find out on TFTV 11 days before the event is going to happen, when it's basically impossible to make a plan to now attend. And so now there will be (maybe) some sort of tournament, using weird non-comp maps, which will look like a joke. And people will say "wow TF2 couldn't even get teams for a comp event? and they are an esport?"
My apologies if this seems overly pessimistic.

AGH, considering I live in Austin this would be awesome, but I'm on vacation next week D:
I'm going with a visitor pass only, I would've loved to play, but didn't pay much attention to the BYOC events. If there is some TF2 being played I would love to show my CS friends how fun it can be.
i 100% would have gone to this if i had more than a weeks notice....
