I have a Razer Kraken and I don't think the little microphone included doesn't work (in TF2 at least) so I was wondering if I could get a headset with an added microphone for voice communication and see if there's any specific headsets that work in game, or if it's just better to just get a separate microphone...
Anyone here will tell you it's better to have a separate pair of headphones + mic than an actual headset
headsets - hyper x cloud, kraken, siberia v2
although I'd highly recommend just a decent pair of headphones + a modmic

If the sound of your Kraken doesn't bother you just buy a desk mic or a clip mic for <$20. Any mic should work for tf2 though as long as it works in windows.
If you're looking for a deal I'd grab one of the 20 dollar logitech usb headsets. Mine sounds better than my blue snowball plus the speaker quality is pretty good too.
modmics and those zalman clipons are complete shit.
just get a hyperx cloud. theres no durable way to do the good headphones + seperate mic combo
im way happier with my clouds than my ath mx50s + mic

Modmics if you have the $$ (have the Modmic 4.0 myself, great shit)
Zalmans are decent for what you pay for them.

my $8 zalman mic has ranged from apparently having awful volume to just about never working
buy a $10 clip-on or lavalier mic and use it with your favorite pair of headphones

modmic 4.0 is great.. the earlier versions werent so much but they were still a new company and trying different things
zalmans are cheap but they work

my Sennheiser HD 598s + modmic 4.0 is as durable as any head set and has much superior build quality

I had a cloud 2 for like 4months and it was really annoying with its sound sometimes fucking up and I have to unplug replug and restart any program that had audio output. Also the zalman mic quality is better than the cloud 2's quality, my audio technicas are way comfier in padding imo, sound quality is better too for my headphones. I paid about 100 for each and the headphone mic combo just crushes headsets.
