Hey there.
Panda Pugs is excited to announce its first tournament sponsored by EVL Gaming!
Everything you need to know about the tournament will be listed and answered here by either Akinfenwa, Panda Dave, or I. However, feel free to PM Panda.
About
First off, huge thanks to EVL Gaming for providing game and mumble servers, a stream to cast the event, and money for the prizepool. This tournament would not be possible without them. Now, this is going to be a small, friendly NA 6v6 tournament consisting of 48 players from silver/open to create 8 teams. Due to the small size of the tournament, teams will be created randomly with admin influence. Please, if this is a problem for you, do not enter yourself in the tournament. This reduces hassle for everyone. We want this to be an enjoyable experience for everybody that comes out to play. (:
Major Details:
- The tournament will be held June 18-19, which is the 3rd Saturday/Sunday in June. The tournament will start 6:30 est Saturday and will pick up at the same time the next day.
- The first night will be played in Round Robin style with the top 4 finalists competing the next night with evlTV to cast. The Round Robin games will only be played with one half so that everyone can play each other in one night.
- This tournament will be first come first serve so sign yourself up now! Any potential subs will be called upon through our group page where your team will decide on who to pick. These subs will be your new team members just to ensure security within teams and fair competition. This is also to ensure that team members show up. You can have no more than two subs.
- Our mods and admins will take turns monitoring the servers to ensure a fun and organized gaming experience for everyone. Furthermore, if you have any problems we will always be available to help. We will have an “Admin Help” channel for players to stop by and discuss any issues they may face.
Rules
The tournament is going to be held with standard pug rules. However, we have thrown in some other rules to fit the tournament.
- Any intentional throwing will get you kicked out of the tournament and you will be replaced.
- Your team must be ready to play 10 minutes after scheduled time or you must suffer a forfeit loss.
Prize Pool:
The current prize pool is 18 keys provided by EVL Gaming. These keys will only be given to the winning team of the tournament. Donations to increase the prize pool are accepted. You can donate here.

Smesi- No off-classing to mid
- Any intentional throwing will get you kicked out of the tournament and you will be replaced.
- You cannot continue to off-class after a stalemate/hold. Once your team is taking back your own point(s), you must switch back to your set class.
- You may not switch classes with someone else during a game in the tournament. However, if you and another player decide to switch classes/roles between games, that must be agreed upon between all of your team.
Why though? Just make the opposing team punish them.

SmesiDue to the small size of the tournament, teams will be created randomly with admin influence.
Since teams will be newly formed, they probably won't have the coordination to deal swiftly and effectively with Snipers and other offclasses. Also, the tournament is promoting a PUG group, so they probably want players to enjoy an environment similar to what may be found in Panda Pugs. And teams would get screwed over if they didn't get a good Sniper placed on their team.

The last time the moderators and admins talked on the event, it was indicated very explicitly that the moderators and admins will be refrained from participation and encouraged to volunteer to help the event run smoothly.

those pug rules should not be there for the reasons you stated, they should be there to prevent people from screwing their own team over by being less competitive.
banning a class in a specific situation in a TOURNAMENT is so retarded, the only rule that makes sense is:
Any intentional throwing will get you kicked out of the tournament and you will be replaced.
which serves the purpose of all the other rules incase someone is not doing well when offclassing and yet continues to do so, which could be considered as inentional throwing, but if they are doing well you should let them offclass if their own team is ok with it

We can definitely change these rules. We'd love for you guys to have fun at this tournament without boring rules, however we thought it might bring more structure to our tournament. But, if you guys think off-classing rules aren't that big of a deal in a tournament we can definitely do without them. However do you guys consider spy/pyro/heavy to mid "throwing"?Just let me know by either upvoting/quoting with your opinion please. We want this to be an enjoyable experience for all of you guys.

We'd love for you guys to, however I don't think our servers would support you guys. Your high ping would almost render you unplayable.

We say this is a tournament for silver/open, however steel players can participate too. This tournament should not be for extremely new players or extremely experienced players.

Panda-DaveDue to the small size of the tournament, teams will be created randomly with admin influence. Please, if this is a problem for you, do not enter yourself in the tournament. This reduces hassle for everyone. We want this to be an enjoyable experience for everybody that comes out to play. (:

That's a great question. However, the answer to that question is going to have to be a no. We discussed this a lot, actually, but we decided that it just makes it a lot harder to create teams with the amount of people that we are hosting. The combinations of the different pairs of people would have to fit with other groups of pairs. This could leave some people that signed up out of the tournament.
