mousiopeDecapotatomousiopei can´t stand watching popular tf2 youtubers like muselk or strife or star, i can´t comprehend the reason for their fanbases.
I also can´t comprehend people who devote their time and money buying/trading pixels in a videogame.
When i see someone displaying on their profiles a ton of gold weapons and a bunch of unusuals i honestly feel he must be an idiot.
If you've been playing this game for years there's nothing wrong with spending money on cosmetics. For one thing it's the only reason TF2 gets any attention from Valve. Besides, I've made more money on the Steam Market than I've lost, so who's the idiot?
hats are important to tf2 i get it, but you cant deny the fact that valve gave a bit too much attention to the hats and ignored all the rest (thats why this game runs the way it does)
theres nothing wrong with making a little money on the market and having some cool unusuals, by all means go for it
i mean those people that basically stop playing the actual game and join servers to show off the whatever the fuck unusual effect they bought to get attention, who seem to spend their monthly income unboxing 100 crates at a time, that have 5k hours on the game but cant seem to do a single rocket jump
saying hats ruined the game's performance is a bit wrong since it has less to do with hats and more to do with entities, which hats happen to be. We've seen entity bloat in other areas though, with added weapons, taunts, and action items, which together add just as many entities per player as 3 hats does.
Also hats and hat gamers are the only reason this game is still alive. Anyone who started playing after 2009 wouldn't be here if valve hadn't monetized the game because tf2 would have a per mill of its player base if valve hadn't maintained it.

I'm not good enough to make TF2 fulfilling, and the game isn't fun when all my friends quit it.

I hate booties and shotgun soldiers whether in 6s or mge. I think gravelpit is an awful map and AD doesn't fit competitive tf2 as fun as it was to watch ricco or reptile farm. I also would give anything to see new or different maps in the rotation even if they are just as garbage as granary or metalworks. Like..... logjam, reckoner, maybe yukon and warmfront again if they were touched up a bit. I also don't understand how anyone could think granary is better than sunshine :/

Birdyrockspeople who think this game was better vanilla are idiots, gunboats made this game so much more fun to play and watch
Maybe it made it more fun to watch, but playing against it wasn't fun and even today I still hold a grudge against it. Goes to the same category as equalizer/bonk/sandvich. At least some of those unlocks are still banned/nerfed.

no matter how hard valve "tries", the ship for a successful TF2 competitive scene sailed a long time ago, and Im honestly surprised that more people aren't shitting on valve for such horrible community management for all their games
also most TF2 players a really dumb

if you got into invite after mixup disbanded you may as well be playing open

I've long suspected that one of TF2's biggest logistical problems is 6v6 over 5v5. Maybe the gameplay itself would be shit, but having to find 2 fewer people and having all those players spread among more teams seems like such a benefit. idk, maybe the swiss system fixed the difficulty of finding a time and date, but I still feel like most of the teams I've been on would've been able to play much more often if they only needed 5 players.

Ringo__Starrif you got into invite after mixup disbanded you may as well be playing open
Really? That's a weird way to somehow swing yourself into the mix of "acceptable invite players" just because you played S16. You must have noticed a really big difference going from a spectator of invite who played IM to a 2-14 record invite player that particular season.
It's definitely true invite has gone downhill, though I'd say in regards to top four talent and true closeness of matches rather than "good attempts" that pretty much started with the end of S11 LAN when Mihaly's Flow played with shrugger, if anything. I feel especially after S18 LAN talent became a lot more questionable because of no LAN that pretty much promotes potentially unfair online play (due to pings, technical issues, etc) while demotivating people that I'm almost certain would be trying a lot harder if there was something like LAN and not just some $$$ at the end of the road.

Exactly, I don't know what makes people think gunboats are an acceptable unlock, it's just dumb shit like every other unlock.

Gunboats have always been fine, I wasn't happy about Escape Plan and Boston Basher back in the day. Most unlocks enhance the game rather than take away from it (and those are generally dealt with rather swiftly).
