ESEA should mos def expand to euro tf2
Most europeans I've talked to would be totally on board with paying for it - we could have awesome international LANs with big prize pools EVERY SEASON/every other season with the amount of money that would be going into it, not to mention further centralizing and strengthening of the community + the possibility of additional sponsors due to popularity.
ETF2L has something like ~330 teams signed up, like 200 if you only count teams that could play in open and above. That's at least 600 more people paying league fees and premium even if only half of them were playing esea. That's approx an extra $15000+ per season going to the league.

That's revenue. Think costs. Kalkin and Killing and other ESEA support staff aren't volunteers; you need someone to run things in a European time zone. So that eats a lot of the revenue right away.
ESEA is only able to run a global CS:GO LAN because the teams have enough sponsors to fly transatlantic and the prize pot is big enough to be attractive. TF2 is missing those two requirements in ESEA's business model.

Surely the ESEA staff doesn't get paid that much.
Regardless, even disregarding all possibilities of an international lan, the possibility for 2 seperate lans is still there. Especially with the reduced costs to rent out a lan center, and reduced costs of transportation, etc.
This is of course after taking measures like trial seasons to test the waters with no lan, etc.
It would still be more money in the game, thus attracting sponsors, and opening more possibilities. I don't see the harm in it, and I fail to see how $15,000 isn't enough to run some servers and a small support crew + lan winnings. Sure, an international lan would be cool, but it's just wishful thinking.

They would need to add a lot of value. They would be lucky to break even.

It's kind off a weird thing. as etf2l is now you dont have to pay to play but the pricepools are pretty shitty aswell. It's a trade off really, i'm not sure if alot of people are up for it to start paying to play while they haven't at all before.
I'll deal with if it happens but really, i'm fine with how everything is now.
This is my opinion.

esea didn't always run a lan finals, they could do a test season or two in europe with the undersatnding that if adoption makes it worthwhile lan finals coudl be a possibility
its definitely a potential growth area and a bigger market than tf2-usa

if you guys think killing is atrocious to deal with wait until you meet the etf2l staffffffffffffff

I remember hearing a few years back that ETF2L-P players play not for the money but for glory and stuff - the same sort of culture emanates throughout Euro eSports in general from what I can see, versus NA eSports ('Murca capitalism woo), where people want to make money for playing something at a high level.
That said, I feel that the Euro players definitely could use a structured pay-to-pay league like ESEA.

I don't think this is true. Just make sure you talk to CanFo or SonnyBlack and you'll be fine.

*ahem* May I step in? :)
http://www.esagamer.com/ will offer prize tournaments for NA and EU soon with both, pay-to-play and free entry tournaments.

Isn't ESEA already attempting to start up in Europe? http://play.esea.net/index.php?s=esports&d=comments&id=11529
From this article from the summer looks like their at it after a failed attempt and this time they're taking it really slow it seems.

If you're playing solely for the prize pot in TF2 you're doing something wrong.

sooo wouldn't it make sense to try to actually grow europe as a source of revenue to increase available prize funding before having an international lan finals? i don't see why NA has to be able to support an international lan before they would run a euro division
i mean hes been doing this a while im sure theres more to it but seems weird!!

No Euros are going to want to play in ESEA.
Why would they want to give up OpenPlugin to play in a league with faggytime restrictions.

Yeah, why would euros want to stop winning mousepads and instead win some money?

I'm hoping this happens sooner than later, because this will increase a lot more interest in TF2 for teams and viewers.
