So, my team is UGC Iron trash, but apparently someone from this organization (http://www.hovbro.gg/) wants to sponsor us?
Kinda fishy, but I'd like your inputs.
Edit: They're offering us a server and Esea fees, in addition to computer parts???

honestly depends on what theyre offering you but just dont give them your personal info and shit
worst thing that can happen if you dont give them your info is that you represent their name (in iron??) and give them publicity for free i guess
It's a scam. Why would any sponsor go for an Iron team.
Edit: I visited the website and this looks pretty legit. Tread lightly tho.
chances are they dont understand tf2, i would tell them to look at invite instead of ugc iron because it seems they would be hardpressed to sponsor a team that doesnt need to pay for anything and that would get zero publicity for them. unless you think that you would be able to ok people sending computer parts and fees for you participating in a free league -_-
they have sponsored a team, so might be legit.
but why
Honestly, you should do them a favor and tell them to sponsor an invite team, as they can't help you out much anyways. It's not like you guys are going to major offline tournaments or need league fees n such.
retrogradeunless you think that you would be able to ok people sending computer parts and fees for you participating in a free league -_-
yeah because free leagues cant have high level players >.>
while the sponsor may be probably unexperienced with the game, what i dont get is how did they find your team in the first place?
Youtube link doesn't work, facebook page has 30 likes, Twitter has 76 follows. My guess is this is a tiny start-up sponsor that probably has little to no money. I would be very surprised if they offered much of anything.
This entire thing screams inexperience to me.
Maybe they have good intentions, but they're definitely going about it wrong, sponsoring an UGC Iron team.
No sponsors listed on their sponsor page. Dunno why they would buy computer parts if they're not even sponsored by any computer parts companies.
"We are actively recruiting and taking applications for teams in the following games: DOTA 2, Heros of the Storm, League of Legends, SMITE, StarCraft 2 & Rocket League." No mention of TF2 here.
Their Twitter seems to retweet random shit unrelated to their org.
I don't exactly know what to think. I kind of doubt these guys have much of a budget though.
I told them about invite teams and such.
Apparently the organization is a one man organization???
and they don't have the funds for higher level player?
also they found us through a mutual friend apparently

Can't say I'm really shocked it's a one-person team. Good on him for trying to start up an organization though, at least.
Even if he can't get an Invite team -- which I kind of have my doubts considering the lack of sponsors in TF2 in general -- he could definitely find an IM team with what he's offering alone.

SteveCWhat's there to lose? I'd take it in a heartbeat.
not when the org looks like it just started a day ago. the org is ran by 1 person which is already a huge turnoff for me and its owner and only member of the organization is immature plus they have one post on their website which convinces me more that he started their org extremely recently

But what's there to lose? He's is giving away a server and league fees. I get you gotta protect your "personal brand"(lmao) but when a nigga offers you a free T-shirt, mug, or sticker. You take it.
Don't tell them shit and get free computer parts? idk what these people are trying to tell you
If this is a scam I'm very curious to what their goal is.

Yo lets give you a free server, oh oops look we took it away from you, jokes on you? Literally, what's the worst thing that could happen?
Now, if they ask you to pay for the server and they'll reimburse you I'd be more concerned, but then again, you'd be buying a tf2 server you'd probably use.
Who is this 5dollar guy? Hes not the owner. Hes a 'super admin'.
And is nobody going to talk about how one of the owners is also playing on the cs team? I'm intrigued now. I'm going to do some more research into these guys when I wake up tomorrow, unless other things happen before then.
Really please explain to this guy all the divisions, how ESEA works with tf2, and that they have a choice of sponsoring open/im teams.
glory

Nah don't be like that.
I've sponsored teams before by providing game and mumble servers, plus I host an annual TF2 lan.
Anyone who's spoken to me can tell you I'm pretty informal in conversations.
Don't disregard the guy solely by the way he talks.
His site looks decent enough (Way better than mine) and if he is doing everything on his own he's clearly put a lot of time into it. Consider that as an indication that he cares enough to make his org a success.
I just reached out to the guy on twitter, I'll see if I can help him find a proper team to sponsor.
if this sponsorship thing is real, and they don't find a way better team to sponsor or something, my team would probably move to ESEA
I have authentic testimony from Jaguar that my team are open level dm retards
Ya but does every lower tier team have a testimony from jaguar
Jaguar LF scrim 1030 Thu: like i don't want to slobber too much on your cocks but you guys are solid as fuuuuuck
I think it's obvious my team belongs in invite guys
id say go for it, theres nothing to lose. if you really dont want to, tell him to look for a higher level team instead.
Alright Hunter has gone out of his way to make things look really ridiculous so I'll give it some context.
For a while now I've been hosting Hunter's team (dR) out of my mumble. They were sent to me by another team that I sometimes help mentor. They are actually really sharp guys who have huge potential. Their dm is good and they are hungry to learn and challenge themselves. It's a shame that UGC made them start in Iron. They are currently at the top of the division doing really well. That's no kind of accomplishment.. it just shows that they're not learning much there and it's sad that they couldn't start in steel or something. If they have the ability and opportunity to play ESEA then they definitely should do it. They'd get shit on just like everyone else as low-mid but that's exactly what they need to push themselves.
Here's the important part: The sponsor has a personal connection to one of the players on the team. That's it, there's nothing much more to say after that. This is a small one-man sponsor who doesn't have tons of cash to throw at invite teams or getting people to LANs. Maybe one day, but not now. There's no computer parts--more like if there's an emergency like a mouse or keyboard give out he may be able to help with that. He strikes me as more of a kind-hearted philanthropist type that enjoys helping young players succeed. Anyway nothing is set in stone, he's just considering some small options and added me so he could get some advice regarding TF2 from a peer (he is not a kid). I wish dR the best of luck and hope they get everything they deserve (good things).
tl;dr stfu Hunter
