Are there more than 5 people worth doing a profile on who are currently playing?

Seeing profiles on players I don't know much about would be great. It gives viewers a little bit of narrative about the players and gives them someone to root for.

it isnt about doing the best players it is about doing the players who have been around and have some history of which their are plenty im sure, i can think of more than 5 for just europe.

For example in the csgo ones they did tarik recently, who neither plays on a top tier team nor been around as long as some players. According to liquidpedia he has only been active in the pro scene for 2-3 years.

Yeah I don't think Valve would be interested. But why wouldn't a popular TF2 channel do it, like eXtv or TFTV? We'll just have to spread the word or something

sorry but it's never gonna happen, it costs a lot of money for transportation and a camera crew. valve isnt gonna pump a bunch of money to promote a game they don't really care about anymore. also considering the fat stack of cash valve is sitting on they are a very cheap company.

yeah it'd be cool if that's could be player profiles with videos of them IRL like the NFL does (my name is _ I went to _ university) but a written summary of players history would be cool too
the important thing is that they're easily accessible from the upcoming match articles so people can be like 'who is this TLR guy everybodys talking about?' and quickly find info about him and a link to his epic frag videos
also I should add that yes we can hope for valve to do that but realistically we (the competitive community) know much better than valve does and so would have a much easier time doing this in the first place, then maybe valve could somehow make them official

To kind of back up what bearodactyl said, I think filling out the player pages on comp.tf/wiki would be a really good start towards providing an informative resource about our top players. I took a look at a few of the existing ones, and some are barely more than a sentence or two. It would be really nice to get a little more info on there, even if it's just basic stuff like roster history.

As far as "official" video profiles go, though, I highly doubt Valve would ever get involved in doing something like that. As a community, I think those types of things are still kind of our responsibility.
