Started reading American Psycho, just finished up Metro 2033 and 2034.

Just finished Germinal by Zola, trying to get some culture.

Currently 'reading' Theodore Roosevelt's Autobiography, one before that was the Columbia Accident Final Report. I'm working the summer in a factory, been listening to a lot of audiobooks on the job

i enjoyed the psychological parts of it and the plot and ending were really good
but the characters didnt do a lot for me, especially strangman. he wasnt as menacing to me as i think he was supposed to be and he seemed kind of out of place.

im on my second attempt of catch 22 by joseph heller. the first time i got 70-80 pages in but stopped because it was too slow for me. im on about page 160 now. i really like the book.

Recenty finished:
Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline pretty great, maybe a bit too many pop culture references. Spielberg is making a movie about it, not a clue how he's going to pull that off.
The Three Body Problem (trilogy), by Liu Cixin really looking forward to book no. 3 in september. It's by a Chinese author and I thought I might not like it because of that, but these books are awesome.
Cryptonomicon by Neil Stephenson, basically a way more badass version of the Imitation Game. If you're just slightly into programming or cryptography, this is a great read.
Seveneves also by Neil Stephenson First 2/3 of the book are great, the last third is OK. Long read, but totally worth it if you like world ending apocalypse/sci-fi stories.

The guy is a total maniac in general, and he became crazier over the years as I understand it.

I decided to re-read some Vonnegut this summer although I have been slacking pretty bad. On Slaughterhouse Five right now which is one of my favorite books of all time.

Just finished this book, was an interesting read.

Can't wait to get started on Kafka on the Shore.

Right now I'm re-reading Tom Sawyer in English, having only read the Russian translation when I was a kid. Having a blast, really fun read. Totally deserves its status as a classic.

Beforehand I've finished Count Zero by William Gibson. I didn't like Neuromancer that much, but I still went for it because I needed my cyberpunk fix. Ended up really enjoying it; it's much more tightly written than Neuromancer and the triple thread narrative ends up covering a lot more ground setting-wise. I recommend it to anyone who didn't read Gibson other than Neuromancer, it's worth it.

By the way, does anyone know of a good speed-reading book? Do you pronounce every word inside your head?

I noticed that when I consciously mute this inner reading voice, I'm able to scroll through the words much quicker, although I tend to remember less information that way. (Is there even a difference to this 'scanning'-technique?)
